It's like listening to a CD that you really loved when you were a kid. You can go back to it and still enjoy it but not as much as before. Why not implement those old maps and modes into 2042 too?
@UP_KillScreen I have the complete opposite opinion. AOW is the novelty mode that is only fun for a couple of rounds. Portal is where the Battlefield experience is.

@ragnarok013Why do you think its better? Take bad company 2 for example. There's many things missing from the original game. Like jumping while throwing a grenade to make it go further. Tap to fire instead of holding it to get more accuracy. You have no perks too. Just to name a few. How is it a better experience compared to to playing the original game?
But at the end of the day having those maps on 2042 wouldn't hurt your experience either.

You don't get credit toward to weekly mission in Portal so it is second rate part of this game. I can't believe that the award this week is a cowboy outfit. It shows how off the mark this whole thing is. This should never have been called "Battlefield."

I completely agree.
The only reason my friends and I bought BF2042 was for the Portal mode. It's where we spend 99% of our time and given progression looks like it will be thing again by next week, it will be where we spend 100% of it.
Some folks don't get why others like it and that's fine, its not for everyone. .....but that's the case for some (or all) of the new all the new mechanics and aspects of BF2042 as well. Simply brining Portal maps into BF2042 is far from the same experience and so is revisiting old titles especially on console from 2 generations ago. In Portal, it's like playing remastered version of these games with better graphics and mechanics. It's been great creating new Experiences IMO / IME.
Portal was never meant as a "novelty" project. It was intended to stick with the franchise going forward. New assets would be added along the way and with new BF titles being released in the future. It's a brilliant concept IMO although I think being tied to BF2042 isn't doing it any favors. I fear it will stifle it's true potential moving forward. If it does peter out, then its been fun. ....but that will likely mean I will be moving on from the BF franchise if BF2042 is the new direction that are sticking with.
.....btw, I think it's obvious the "toxicity" is brewing from both sides, calling people / groups out, etc. .....and at 50+, I have no interest in getting involved in any of that. I'm just here to talk about the game, what I like, don't like, share ideas, information, etc.
