They may as well make it free to play.
No-one in their right mind would pay money for what this franchise has become.
I'm not going to be playing at all till the "everybody play PAIK" meta has been reversed.
Not sure who the person was who made the call to remove the only downside to this specialist's ability but it's pretty obvious that they either don't play the game at all or just don't understand the mechanics of the game if they do.
The moment they posted the notes on that change for the update it was obvious what was going to happen.
How could the developers not realise just what a gamebreaking change that was going to be?
I posted within minutes with the comment "Welcome to the PAIK meta in CQ".
A blind monkey could have seen what was going to happen.
Now any blind monkey playing this game gets an unlimited wall-hack with absolutely no downside to it's use.

You've wrecked this game and utterly destroyed any goodwill this franchise had.

I dont think theyre too huge fans of FtP games because of that EA subscription they offer. :D
Maybe next Battlefield will be free-to-play when there is gonna be barely any people buying/playing it. 🙂 If not, then Warzone always will be I guess. :D
They were suposedly considering making BF FtP which most likely cut their sells even more just considering it. :D I just dont have many hopes for Battlefield as non free to play game nowadays when everything is becoming FtP, even Overwatch 2 is gonna be free...
Its becoming age of micro-transaction games which also make most profits I guess, we are going to see a lot of titles free from now.
Most of BFs game-modes are not really well suited for a F2P-game. They are team-based modes with less emphasis on the individual players.
The specialists in 2042 are made for monetization, but they also destroyed most of the feeling of playing a BF-game.
Things could have been very different if Dice had released Firestorm as F2P (BFV) and put more effort into fixing the game-play ('everybody' wanted this, but Dice didn't listen). COD succeeded with this model.
I think EA/Dice needs to understand that BF is different from most shooters (lager player-count, combined warfare etc) and that probably means lesser players than Apex Legends / COD etc.
Of course they could try a F2P 'Firestorm 2' and see what happens (probably too late), it has a bigger chance of success than a new version of Hazard Zone.

Any game is suited for free-to-play, all you need to do is to make battlepass and some premium skins, most players in Warzone buy those, I rarely find a player who is rocking basic skin and Warzone is mostly a casual game like BF, people mostly play Plunder just to have fun and yet they still have bought stuff on them. It doesnt have to be competitive and sweaty for being able F2P.
There is already free-to-play Tarkov which is called Cycle Frontier, it just goes for anything and Battlefield was already free-to-play for some time before BF4 got released.
Noone would play Battlefield Battle Royale even for free... It was already here and how it ended up ? Its empty. :D
People just dont wanna spend 50 Dollars on games anymore, you can see it with any AAA release nowadays, they are always expecting more sales than it ends up to be... I think this time is gone and gaming companies need to adapt to make more money. Like if even Overwatch 2 is going to be free, I dont really see any way arround this, its just too much of a competition from other companies nowadays. If they wanna BF to be great game again, then they have only option F2P!
There always will be cheaters, no matter if its free-to-play or not and I would rather accept some cheater here and there than having to pay before I can even try the game and there were cheaters in BF5 anyway which is even worse if you pay for game than not. Ive been thru this with BF5 and I think Im gonna stick to F2P to future. There is same ratio of cheaters in BF5 like in Warzone I would say.
Id rather buy skins if the game is worth it than paying for something I might not enjoy...
