Nope, trying to make Battlefield appeal to the player-base of every other F2P FPS/Arena-style shooter out there is how we got into this mess in the first place.
The next Battlefield needs to get back to what made the series great to begin with, no silly-* skins, higher skill ceiling on all vehicles, realistic looking soldiers/vehicles/weapons, grittier, dirtier, meaner while balancing it all out with a fun factor a few clicks above a mil-sim.
Go back to the Class System (with regular nameless, faceless soldiers, no goofy outfits and or colors, personally I could care less if they even stopped selling skins altogether)
Clan/Platoon Support (and for crying out loud don't make it so hard to just play with your friends in the same squad/server)
Server browsers, persistent servers (preferably with an option to have community-run servers) minimum 60Hz
Proper Squad Management, with the ability to lock squads, kick players, leave a squad, start your own etc. etc.
WAY more maps, modes, vehicles, weapons just a helluva lot MORE.
And I'm sure a LOT more than I can think of right now, but free-to-play and selling whacky skins sure as hell isn't the answer.

Very good post mate that clearly defines exactly what needs to change if BF is ever going to get back to what made BF great.
Imho BF2042 has moved way too far from the blueprint that worked successfully for so many years.
BF2042 is clearly not what the vast majority of the BF community wanted or expected and the current player count is a testament to their disapproval.
I genuinely hope that BF can get back to what it used to be, but it will take a massive overhaul and will need to be rebuilt from the ground up and incorporate each of the key elements you listed above.
It will take a lot of time and commitment to get it done but imho it would be well worth it so we can get back that true Battlefield experience.

@Ironhead841 this is exactly what we need, not more trend chasing that mired us in this maddening situation in the first place.
