If I want to play a hero shooter, why would I go play yours when apex and cod are both highly polished and successful already?
Do they not understand that if you create a similar game to an already released game, you aren't going to compete. Creating a similar game in an supersaturated market is stupid.
Creating a new game that would take people away and give them something new to enjoy, that's competing. Creating a new game with the goal of making it good, it will then become popular.
I'm just tired of this.. I'm not even angry, its just sad man.
BATTLEFIELD 2042 - WTF HAPPENED? Development Timeline & The Future of Battlefield
There are a lot of contradictions in this post. You state if you create a similar game to an already released game, you aren't going to compete", yet you want DICE to make a game that is no different from its previous titles.
You also state, "Creating a new game with the goal of making it good, it will then become popular." While they still need to fix bugs in the system, they did make a new game, their goal was to be enjoyable and different to attract new players.
I am not sure what you want, the old and repeated that similar to every other BF game, or something new and different?

I'll give an answer. We want the old and repeated BF style and formula that is tried and true while also incorporating some new ideas along the way (whatever those may be I don't know). The problem is there's been a lot of turnover at DICE and the new blood may not really know how to follow the traditional Battlefield formula. Or maybe they do but EA is pulling them in a different direction. CrashGames who worked with Tom Henderson on the article shows anonymous employee reviews of what's going on at EA and DICE and it's not pretty. Seems like there's a lot of blame to go around. But I think if they continue down this super hero road it may not end well.

@BtheReaper49When you put 'We' in a thread/post of this nature and don't quantify or contextualise said 'We', it can only be assumed that that 'we' means everyone.
Neither you or the OP has quantified or contextualised your 'We' which allows any reader to assume you mean everyone.
As he said, you both don't speak for everyone.- AntEater19974 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
@Trokey66 Honestly, its just me venting a bit after I keep seeing more info come out about the development cycle. It's nothing super deep everyone needs to pick apart. Can agree or not, doesn't matter, I'd encourage people to share what they think and like though because I really want to like this game. Been waiting for something to give me the same joy of as when I played 3. Maybe I'll pick it up after a few updates but whenever I read more, what pops into my head is like a parent saying "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed" lol

@VBALL_MVP Let me try to word it better. A similar game to an already released game that was released within the last 1-2 years. So for example, Firestorm released like 6 months to a year after BLOPS 4 Warzone. Or maybe they want to make a hero shooter br for example from what it sounds like in the video. Lets say they make one and release it a year after Apex 2. Those two have already cemented themselves into the genre and if they wanted to compete, releasing a half-assed game in an overflowing br market and expecting it to be a hit is silly imo. They back peddled many times in this development chasing trends, and in doing so lost a lot of their core playerbase as well as the new players they were trying to bring in due to the lack of depth the game has from its short actual development time.
Of course we don't want games to be exactly like the old one but the designs and core fundamentals are the same with the addition of what current technology can do now a days. (weather effects for example) They wont be the same as a game from 10 years ago (bf3/4/bc2)

I am sure if they did release something similar to BF3 & 4 people would be bitching nonetheless saying we want something different!
- AntEater19974 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
@CantGetRight Maybe, maybe not. But there has always been a loyal fanbase for 3 and 4 and a lot of those people will definitely pick it up. Add that with the marketing they did for this game (at least with the first few trailers) They'd probably still bring in the new players they were targeting and add portal to it and it would be a solid game. The market has been itching in anticipation for a large modern shooter, we saw that with the build up to this release.
- Thursdayz_Child4 years agoRising Rookie@VBALL_MVP You misrepresented @AntEater1977.
BF2042 isn't competing with previous battlefield titles and he is not saying that it should be the same as prior battlefields.
What he is saying is that battlefield should not seek to emulate the competition and it should instead strive to innovate on the battlefield formula and produce a unique and interesting game. Not a nasty composition of all the parts of other games that EA thinks makes them successful.
