@VBALL_MVP Let me try to word it better. A similar game to an already released game that was released within the last 1-2 years. So for example, Firestorm released like 6 months to a year after BLOPS 4 Warzone. Or maybe they want to make a hero shooter br for example from what it sounds like in the video. Lets say they make one and release it a year after Apex 2. Those two have already cemented themselves into the genre and if they wanted to compete, releasing a half-assed game in an overflowing br market and expecting it to be a hit is silly imo. They back peddled many times in this development chasing trends, and in doing so lost a lot of their core playerbase as well as the new players they were trying to bring in due to the lack of depth the game has from its short actual development time.
Of course we don't want games to be exactly like the old one but the designs and core fundamentals are the same with the addition of what current technology can do now a days. (weather effects for example) They wont be the same as a game from 10 years ago (bf3/4/bc2)
I am sure if they did release something similar to BF3 & 4 people would be bitching nonetheless saying we want something different!

@CantGetRight Maybe, maybe not. But there has always been a loyal fanbase for 3 and 4 and a lot of those people will definitely pick it up. Add that with the marketing they did for this game (at least with the first few trailers) They'd probably still bring in the new players they were targeting and add portal to it and it would be a solid game. The market has been itching in anticipation for a large modern shooter, we saw that with the build up to this release.
- 5 years ago@AntEater1997 Oh, I know they would have. People bitched when BF3 was released saying it was nothing like BF2 and was even missing features. LIke the commander mode. Smaller squads and such.

@CantGetRight Yeah and it ended up being the best selling bf I think. It had a loyal fanbase, solid foundation and brought a lot of new players to the series
- 5 years ago@CantGetRight Someone will always complain. There's just no way to make everyone happy but if you read the reviews on Steam battlefield 2042 is really horrible. The price is the same as if it had a campaign which it doesn't. You have 2 basic pvp options Conquest or Breakthrough both without server browsers so you don't get to choose the map.
Hazzard zone is a weird pve/pvp mix with 4 players working together without VOID and it's hit and miss on if you get a ok team. You really need to group with friends using a 3rd party voice chat.
Portal is mostly pve with some populated pvp servers. The AI proforms badly and isn't challenging or fun.
All the missing features which EA calls "legacy" is expected for all games. I'm talking about the basic things like in game scoreboard, world leader boards, personal stats, void. I've played many alphas that had more content than 2042 which is supposedly a full release. - 5 years ago
Definitely true!
Although righteously the game should be in favour of the OG BF lovers whom played BF3 & BF4, and not the next-gen kids all hooked on COD and think BF1 & 2 are awesome.
- CountSero5 years agoSeasoned Ace@JUICDT you can be lucky that there are such kids who bought BFBC an BFBC 2 😉 In my opinion they laid the base that you have got BF3 and BF4 😉 I had played BF3 on xbox 360 and on PC but I think console had a bigger market on release than PC😉
IF they don’t have pulled the game out of the niche and made it more casual, we never had got BF3, BF4, BF1 or BFV 😉
Every franchise needs fresh blood and ideas yeah there always be so called veterans which play for ever but the player base will change from year to year
Old player coming and going and new player are coming and going
And what is your right to demanding that a game should be more to the favour for you so called “OG BF lovers” I think you are in the minority… IF there were not such players which you are calling kids you could be lucky that EA doesn’t pull the plug and killed the service for BF3 & BF4
Btw. I play BF since 2004 I have started with BF Vietnam and played also BF 1942, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2 Modern Combat, Battlefield 2142, Battlefield: Bad Company, Battlefield 1943, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, Battlefield 1, Battlefield V and Battlefield
BF 1942, Bad Company and BF V I didn’t play on release (BF V was gifted to me)
Also, I skipped Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield online (which were only in south Korea) and Battlefield Play for Free
So, what make me than? not a fan ?
Overall, I can say I like the battlefield series and I know what I’m talking about and guess what I also like BF2042 and yes, I know what issues BF2042 has related to performance, bugs and missing QoL. But with Patch 3 DICE showed that they have done a step into the right direction.
So you see there are much more things than you complaining… there are enough player which makes a community

Why should it be like BF3 and BF4 to please "OG battlefield lovers"? If anything it should be WW2 like the original. Not that I would personally like want that as I have played too many WW2 era shooters already, but your statement doesn't really make sense tbh

REMOVE THE STUPID SPECIALISTS! EVERYONE HATES THE SPECIALISTS!!!
Go back to regular classes NOT specialists!!!
- CountSero5 years agoSeasoned Ace@davidgmccoy1 mate writing all in caps is a bad manor
also speak for yourself I prefer the specialist system over the old class system
The Specialist gives mor advantages and freedom of choice than the class system which locks content....

@ragnarok013 I think many people don't like it to open more than one launcher to playing a game, also you could get BF2042 much cheaper on origin itself and thru key sellers than on steam. So, I think there is a valid argument that Steam beside Epic are the smallest portion here.
Also, we don't know how many players are on PS5 and xBox S/X because due to the cross-platform ability they should count in.
But in the end talking about numbers without EA giving us the real thing is nothing more than making assumptions
And assumption are kind of inaccurate 😉
As long I get a game in seconds it seems to me that there more player than we expecting and I have turned off cross platform gaming (so i searching in a smaller group of players)

Steam still dwarfs those other companies sales to the point where Ubisoft doesn't even sell the latest AC on Steam to get more money because most people still bought AC on Steam.
