Could we pinpoint the footsteps? nope but the player was right above us and it sounded like they were off to the right somewhere but not close. Then somehow a tank will sneak up on you? Suprised they have not given vehicles takedown animations with knives etc. Bullet sounds just awful just no sense that your actually in a 64/128 war game. I'm still 100% sure this is a free to play game at most. The battlepass is just a borefest why ask me to use weapons/characters i will never use just to get a weapon i will never use.
I paid for the season pass just give the weapons at the start of the season.
Those who do not pay let them play to unlock them.
@Kona_ukAll BF-games have issues with missing audio from vehicles, footsteps, gun-fire etc. Especially sound coming from behind has always been a big issue.
BF4 is even worse than 2042 (believe it or not), but 2042 is a step back from BFVs sound and even BF1 has better sound than 2042.
The older games could only play 20 sounds at once, it doesn't seem like this has changed.
Furthermore it seems like Dice still favors certain sounds, like distant explosions, for giving a more 'immersive experience'. In reality we want an audio-system that enhances core game-play (footsteps, vehicles, gun-fire, zip-lines, parachutes etc) instead of sounding like a Hollywood movie....
I have tried a lot of settings (on 500+ dollar headphones) and the only thing I can recommend is using 'Dolby Atmos for headphones'. This makes vehicles sound more audible than 'DTS Headphone X', 'Windows sonic' or stereo. But it's not perfect and you will still get shot in the back by silent 'ninja-players' and vehicles.

Razer's THX Spatial Audio app does a great job downmixing multi-channel surround sound to stereo without adding reverb echo. Personally it's my favorite.
