It's something that lot of us wanted to have but again, it's very unfortunate that it's not happening.
Please consider it in the future!

- PacNbowls5 years agoSeasoned Ace@Player55 The sad part is most games are doing it now, seems like they want to keep you connected 24/7
Sad to hear this. Unfortunately this is deal breaker for me. I wont rent a game for couple of years and then DICE or EA will just pull the kill switch.
After years of fan requests to include offline mode, it is just clear at this point that DICE or EA care more about money and want to force fans to buy every new title, but for me this is the end of Battlefield series. There are many other great non AAA titles, which can be played offline.

@Player55There are difference things I can speculate about, maybe the AI-Bots running via "Cloud-Based" services, this will require a pernament internet connection or at least a "hosted" server to play.
Another thing I can speculate about is that the pernament internet connection could be an instrument to fight against "piracy". - OskooI_0075 years agoSeasoned Ace

I doubt EA is spending a ton of money on cloud servers able to run advanced AI bots. I doubt the bots in BF2042 require any kind of machine learning (ML) hardware. That would explode EA's cloud costs and eat into their profit margin.
I would definitely prefer an offline play option, but that isn't going to ruin the game, for me. As long as AT&T gets their money, I'll be rollin. 🍺🍺

@Player55 As I seem to remember it being confirmed you could still level up and unlock items against bots, it may also be to control quick leveling on modified systems.
- @Rusty Rat I wonder if the compromise for Solo not being offline will still allow players to progress everything completely against AI.
- ElliotLH5 years agoHero+@UNL1M1T3D_P0W3R We can use the bots for levelling and so on.
It's probably some sort of an online Cloud service where the Bots are supported from, and they're not directly included in the game.
And so it needs an active online connection to make it work.
Maybe even cause you perform the fight with Bots on Multiplayer maps too.
Greets,
Travis
