I know that if we kill bots Multiplayer and Co-Op we'll still progress, but I'm talking about Solo where it's just the player completely alone with and against AI. If we can still progress in Solo then that'll be a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Would totally make up for not being offline.

@Player55What is there to explain? They just said BF2042 is an online experience. Seems clear to not need expanding upon.
- OskooI_0075 years agoSeasoned AceDICE made a statement about Solo mode.
"SINCE AI SOLDIERS CAN BE USED IN SOLO MODE, DOES THAT MEAN I CAN PLAY OFFLINE?
Battlefield 2042 is a multiplayer-only experience. So while you can play Solo against AI Soldiers if you’d like to practice, it will be in an online setting."

@UNL1M1T3D_P0W3R Still no confirmation of how it will work specifically. It mentions playing co-op with friends against bots for fun or single player to practice skills ready for multiplayer. While that might indicate co-op and solo against bots is practice/fun mode only, how do you deal with people renting a server and password protecting it so that it is mainly filled with bots? Unless they only allow progression on official servers, it has to be available in all modes.

Perfectly find if someone wants to crush bots with god mode settings but I personally think all progression should be earned via official settings.
Needing a constant connection sounds like an anti piracy trick and/or it's essential for thr ai soldiers to work properly

What a joke, i refuse to buy always on DRMd games that can be killed completely for good at any moment, just no.
@Player55 wrote:Can you please explain DICE, why is there no offline modes for bots?
Thank you!
Because the AI bots are using machine learning to constantly evolve and needs computational power beyond your local resources to work properly in the gameplay. Next to this, even your solo gameplay against the AI bots is also counting in your soldier progress and XP and your gaming environment therefore need solid integrity controls and checks which is not possible if you were allowed to do this locally in your own sandbox setting.
Yes, not everybody will be happy about this.
But this is just how it is, cant please everybody in this world.
And personally I enjoy the proposed features and requirements, as it means we do not just get silly robots always acting/playing along the same static track lines and predictable, boring, non intelligent ways that would only be somewhat fun for the first 10 mins of gameplay...
- GRiPSViGiL5 years agoSeasoned Ace@tyl0413 What is that last DRMd game you bought that you played long enough or it prematurely shutdown?
I find this highly unlikely with BF. Most people move on to the newer versions. It's not uncommon for a small community to still play older games but I am genuinely curios to hear of a game you played or know of this happened to. @GRiPSViGiL, I think but I'm not sure, that, Tron Evolution had a DRM that now blocks the game to function on PC since Disney didn't renew the authentication servers according to the Wikipedia page.
- GRiPSViGiL5 years agoSeasoned Ace@Player55 So Tron had a 9 year run. Would you think you would want to play BF2042 that long? I played BF2 for 5 years religiously so I get it but I don't think we have seen this happen with a BF game. I used to think the DRM thing was a big deal but it hasn't been the inconvenience I expected when that whole thing started.
