True, modern capabilities aside, they will likely just tool it to behave exactly like the Apache, just with a different skin. The reasoning is always centered on game balance, making a copy with a different visual “flavor” is always the easiest road to take, although certainly not the most fun or challenging.
I can hope with you that DICE would actually try to implement meaningful tactical differences in-game that lead to more interesting decision-points, but the fear of potentially breaking things and hearing / reading the associated whining is just too strong…
