As a fellow PvE player, I cannot agree more!
I would rather have reduced progression with the AI, than having it outright removed. I bought the game, based solely on the fact I would be able to play against AI either solo or co-op with friends & still earn progression.
They say it's temporary. I sure as hell hope so.
The change is temporary. They announced it on Twitter several hours ago:
XP awards on custom Battlefield Portal Servers are temporarily disabled
XP awards for Solo/Co-Op Experiences have been lowered in All-Out Warfare
XP awards in All-Out Warfare MP are unaffected
These changes are temporary measures which will remain in place to restrict the creation of XP Farming servers in Battlefield Portal. We are performing a restart of all Portal servers to apply these changes XP remains active on Classic Portal Experiences and VIP Fiesta
- 4 years agoThey wrote about XP but nothing about the change that kills dont count for mastery
- 4 years ago@X1Alpha1 I think it's all part of the same thing, well hopefully anyway, and hopefully they bring it all back. I mean, why not just make it so you can only lower bots to 80% health or something and if you lower it below that the server automatically switches off progression.

The 'community' strikes again!

There is a entire PVE audience that doesnt want to bother with multiplayer. These people spent upwards of 100usd to have early access. Every hour you arent returning normal XP and Unlocking of attachments for guns and vehicles to Solo/Coop vs AI is a slap in the face for those people. We paid almost double to have early access and start grinding and now we cant.
- 4 years ago@Lunatlque XP farm servers ruined it.
- 4 years ago@Kean_1111 guess they dont want us to play portal
- 4 years ago@LucidDreaming84 They lost all sense of reality. Can you imagine advertising a certain mode and make it the selling point of this game just to have xp/progression disabled on launch day tommorow? Things are gonna go bad trust me.

They figured out what they did...
- 4 years ago@Kean_1111 It's such a weird choice. If they were so annoyed about how badly people were abusing Portal to rapidly grind XP with hardcore settings why not just temporarily disable the hardcore settings or make it so tweaking certain settings removes progression and full XP. Certainly shouldn't take as long as it has to do this.

Certainly shouldn't take as long as it has to do this.I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the hardcore settings in Portal but IMO, no, there shouldn't be any limitations based on your choices in creating Portal Experiences as that completely defeats the purpose of how the progression was marketed. They could however cap the progression so that it stops (like they did now) but within reasonable limits over a give period of time. .....by hour(s), a day, etc.
They have put caps on solo and coop but it's way too extreme IMO. ....unreasonable. It's worse in Portal because you can't even level up in Mastery to unlock 2042 items. You are forced to play solo / coop or in PvP matches. The restriction especially sucks for those that can only play once in a while. They can't devote several hours to grinding for unlocks but have to wait for the very short cap to lift again. I get capped in one match of solo. .....and I don't find it that easy to be honest.
They can allow progression but also keep people from exploiting Portal to unfairly gain XP / progression. The fact that they didn't have any sort of safeguard in place that worked to begin with (when they said they did) is what I can't understand.
- 4 years agoI'm sorry EA / Dice, but what the heck? I bought ultimate strictly on the idea so I can enjoy pve with bots and essentially never touch pvp ever again and actually enjoy the game for a change, but now what? I need to request a refund because original promises of bots not being capped go bb? So at this point you're setting up against yourself your regular pvp community because they're your regular pvp community and now you're also setting up against yourself pve community which you kinda sorta just started getting? What the heck... uncap solo / coop play.
If you're pissing off both of your communities and number of players is going down - who will bother with shortcuts and such? Or at least let someone from development team clarify situation and give some rough eta of when all changes for solo progression will go back... damnit... way to go ruin my mood for the evening...
