Portal is by far the best part of the game.
The first 1 day of early access with full XP earning on Portal was great. I could play Bad Company 2 again with modern graphics and really have an awesome time gaining XP and ribbons for my main character.
Yes, people will make XP farms with Portal
No, that does not mean XP has to be turned off for all of Portal
Suggestions:
- Enable XP only on official Portal playlists like the raw BFBC2, BF3, and 1942 playlist. Maybe enable XP on featured (aka manually reviewed and approved) custom playlists
- Add a set of XP-banned rules. If you tweak or enable a rulechange, then XP is banned for that playlist. Add a filter in the server browser to sort by XP or no-XP servers.
- Add static analysis for XP gain. If someone drops bot health to 10 and makes player weapons 10x stronger, then Portal should be able to calculate the max per person XP rate and throw an error, or apply a no-xp flag. Allow for some unbalanced rules but force the designer to reduce some things to balance xp gain out.
I want to play portal all the time. I currently avoid it and minimize my time in portal per session since I want to earn XP and unlock weapons and attachments in the main game.
I'm all for this. I'd very much like to earn ribbon XP in Portal mode. What annoys me is that Portal was so heavily marketed and then ends up getting borked. Portal is where the TRUE Battlefield experience lies.
- 4 years ago@tytan1um Portal is only a true Battlefield experience if you take the time to make it one...unlike DICE. 🤣
