@ChrisAWJBethelI can't believe you tried to play the Race Card, attempting to say that a game developer exercising their 'right' to do what they will with their property--and you having agreed to it, beforehand--is like slavery! Are you nuts??? There is absolutely NO comparison between what slaves endured and your whining because someone took their 'ball' (game) and went home with it. Unbelievable! I was taking you seriously, before, but now I am completely over it.
Just so you know, I am actually very much *for* having offline bots. I've said it many times in this forum. I just can't support you in how you think you own, and somehow should be able to dictate terms, of someone else's property. Their House, their rules.
It's just like if you went to a paintball field and purchased an Unlimited Play pass to play paintball. After two years, the owners decide to close up shop and retire. It's their business, and they can run--or close it--anytime they choose. The TOS you signed states that they may end play or shut down the business at anytime, but here you are whining because they closed--and somehow think you are entitled to force them to keep the doors open, just so you can keep playing. Sorry, but you don't own that business, the land, the equipment, or the labor of the people who would have to keep working in order for you to continue playing there.
This has gotten too ridiculous. This entitlement mentality stuff...I'm over it. Feel free to say what you need to say, but I'm done with that subject.
EA & DICE should continue to do whatever they feel is necessary for the betterment of their business. If you and I don't approve of their actions, we can always withhold our money. They are free to conduct their business as they choose, and we are free to give our money to someone else. Freedom on both sides.

@ChugKendallThat was beautiful and absolutely right.
We can keep giving them reasons to make the Solo Matches playable offline as many times as we want.
But in the end it's EA and DICE's decision whether we like it or not. - 4 years ago@Jesse165 Yes, and thank you, but I do hope EA & DICE will thoughtfully consider our input as they move forward with this game. I, too, would love an offline mode w/ bots, with leveling roughly equal to what it would be in muiltiplayer modes, so there's no advantage.

Being realistic about the possible/probable reasons why there isn't an offline 'bot' mode is not the same as being against such a mode (unless of course, any later introduction has an impact on the online experiance).
Until one know what cannot or has not been done, one canint suggest what can or should be done.
I care not a jot about offline 'bots' in the same way I don't care about TDM or hardcore but understand some, bizzarely, enjoy them so won't actively demand they exist.
- 4 years ago@Trokey66 I understand and respect your position, and I realize that offline bots aren't for everyone, but in other posts I have mentioned why I would personally welcome them (players inconsiderately playing (crappy) music through their mics, mouth-breathers, babies crying in the background, players not playing the objective, players cursing, try-hards insulting and being rude to other players, etc.). I am at the point where I think I would rather play with bots than other people, because other people are frequently disappointing. For those that don't want offline bots, they wouldn't have to play with them. Choice is a wonderful thing.

- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@ChugKendall Don't disagree with any of that, as you say if you don't like it, don't play it.
The problem in this thread is the willful refusal to accept possible/probable reasons why some things are not in the game. - 4 years ago@Trokey66 Holy 34 pages Batman! lol You guys blew this thread up!!
Insight or not, this is clearly a hot topic that EA needs to address. Maybe we don't get it at launch. Battlefront 2 had limited offline play at launch as well. They added to it post launch which bare minimum is what BF2042 needs to do. - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace
@ArchAngeL-PCXBut again with the 'needs to'! They don't NEED to do anything if it is not technically possible, outside of their current road map and not yet resoursed or they simply don't want to.
If the reason why is A or B above, you are snookered no matter how much you demand it, if it is C you're in with a chance as long as it isn't prevented by A and/or C.
If it happens, great you have what you want and I have no issue with that but if it doesn't, for the love of all things sacred try to understand why not.It is the willful ignoring of any and all pissible/probable reasons why it is not there that is doing my napper in.
- 4 years ago@Trokey66 Of course it's up to them, but with no single player or offline component after having one for so long, it's all but guaranteed many in the community will ask for it.
It happened in both Battlefront 2015 and Battlefront 2. Initially there were no plans to add offline, but the community requests were so strong they added it. In the case of Battlefront 2, the co-op didn't make it to offline until the very last update for the game. - 4 years ago@Trokey66 I personally understand what you're saying. If they can or want to do offline bots, great! If they can't, or won't, there are some gamers who will have tough choices to make. That's basically all I have left to say about it.
- Jesse1654 years agoSeasoned Ace@ChugKendall Agreed. That is pretty much where I am with it.
Will probably still pre-order it to show my support for them adding the AI Soldiers in general. But I hope and pray that the eventually make it playable Offline before it is too late. - 4 years ago@ArchAngeL-PCX Yeah, things got a little crazy for a bit, unfortunately, but I think everyone is chill now. Sometimes things happen, but at the end of the day, you pick each other up, shake hands and move on. No ill will here, and I hope others feel the same. Loved the Batman reference, too lol.

@Jesse165Right on. I have money down on it, too, but I want to see more actual gameplay, and read more details about modes and options, before I take that final plunge. I am cautiously optimistic.
- ChrisAWJBethel4 years agoSeasoned Ace@ArchAngeL-PCX Weren't there also community requests to add offline bots to Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V?
- Jesse1654 years agoSeasoned Ace@ChrisAWJBethel Yes but those never had Bot Matches at all like Battlefield 2042 will.
I think there is still no chance we will see AI Soldiers in those games for Conquest or Breakthrough but there is still hope for Offline Matches in 2042 even if it's not at launch. - ChrisAWJBethel4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Jesse165 They could always make an updated re-release of those games in which offline bots are supported.

DICE started experimenting with AI and we got offline modes and coop along with bots. It was great fun. AI was surprisingly good but sometimes dumber than a rock. It was only a matter of time when they would bring this in next battlefield. There's a video on ytb if you more interested.
- 4 years ago@ChrisAWJBethel I'm not sure. I didn't play those games. I skipped Battlefield 1 for TitanFall 2. I skipped BFVs launch hoping Anthem would deliver and ended up playing Apex Legends instead of either one.lol!!!

I don't think that without offline support for the bots the game will actually be playable at launch.
No company sizes their servers for peak user numbers, and the hype for the game is huge.
Without offline support I strongly believe a lot of people that purchase the game will be locked out and completely unable to play the game for days to weeks (depending on how long the initial wave of players lasts).
I can't recall the last time the launch of an "always online" title went smoothly.
I for one will not be purchasing it until offline support for the bots is confirmed. I was actually thinking of pre-ordering, the only thing holding me back was that I lacked confirmation of offline support. Good thing I waited, I don't like refunding games.
- ChrisAWJBethel4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Strelok_1284 Exactly. I was going to pre-order as well when I heard about the bots. Good thing I waited.

@Strelok_1284You make some great points. As much as fans point to BF4 as the last great BF title and are playing it again, BF4 launched with completely broken servers. No one could access the game, and it was months before I could play without rubber banding.
Honestly, my concern over the general poor state of online play is growing. Hackers and terrible ping times are plaguing all online games. Even Planetside 2 is having issues with hackers basically replacing bases in game with piles of scrap. Most of the hacking is going on in PC of course, but the server quality across the board has been terrible this year, especially EA's games.
I think if this title was in development longer, we would have an offline bot mode.
The idea that gamers only cared about playing online was a media hype myth from the start. All the evidence of the past few years shows completely opposite, including in EA's own titles like Jedi Fallen Order and Battlefront 2. Even Blizzard recognized it and is putting a story campaign plus PvE modes into Overwatch 2.
It's hard to believe DICE would just ignore all that evidence this time around. - 4 years ago
@ArchAngeL-PCX It was a huge letdown for me to find out the we don't have true offline bots.
Initially when they announced bots I was really hyped, we've been asking for so long and they finally return in BF2042. I was honestly expecting the same approach as in Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront 2 both being 100% playable offline with bots. Battlefront 2 got a lot of hate because of loot boxes but having bots that are fully playable offline was so good. I'm not that into Star Wars but it was fun for a limited time. My hope was that the bots would soon be featured in Battlefield.
I was sure they would port them to Battlefield V and I was again disappointed.
Maybe they'll listen and introduce offline support for BF2042.. but I'm not hoping for much at this point. ☹️
If they do add offline support I'll be sure to buy the game, if not then definitely no. Like I've said, I've been burned too many times already.
- tyl04134 years agoSeasoned Veteran@Strelok_1284 I remember in 2019 i couldn't play the new Modern Warfare game's campaign for the first few days because the servers were full.
- ChrisAWJBethel4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Strelok_1284 Yes, I haven't purchased a Battlefield game since 2016 for the reasons you stated. I have always looked for that epic large-scale multiplayer game with combined arms the can be played offline by yourself and with friends. All of them were mostly on PC, and I grew up playing console games. This presented a problem for me, one that I never thought of addressing until 2017. I had played with and enjoyed bots in games like Super Smash Bros., TimeSplitters Future Perfect, and Jedi Outcast, but I never went out of my way to advocate for them. I now realized my gaming 'career', while enjoyable, could have been much better with the consistent inclusion of offline bots.
