@Jesse165that IS the point, no one but DICE knows, it may have been a last minute addition due to spare capacity or it could have been in the development plan from the beginning.
Either way, you cannot assume that because it happened in SWBF 2, it will happen in BF2042. - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@ChrisAWJBethel Oh, but it is!
- ChrisAWJBethel4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Jesse165 Ah. I figured as much.
I think that popularity of this topic is sending clear message to DICE/EA.
When they decided to make game online only, they had to accept the possibility of a negative feedbacks from many players. Previous Battlefield titles all had some kind of campaign which we were able to play offline. Although players have been asking for offline bots mode for years, Battlefield 2042 will be title where I personally draw the line and will not buy game, if there wont be some kind of offline mode at some point.
Renting a game is just nonsense and this is not true Battlefield anymore in my opinion.
@Terofishyso they dont want us offline ??? They see Jack Sparrows And Daivee Joens behind every corner. What a paranoia.
I was expecting to, in a worst case scenario to have my own server at home and not bother with cheats and annoying people in general. Or imbalances exploited to max by no backbone no shame folks.
I guess some sort of server emulator will have to do ?
My interest is to never bother playing online with folks when bots actually work as intended. (just like old times) BF is good enough without enemy ppl. Bonus on top would be that I wont be sending any data to overload EA data mining. You see, I only want to help them. Less data to spy, and pilfer thorough, in their interest.
In mine, well, dont bother me :P Bfbc 2 was the first major letdown in not having bots.
I bought bf 4 a week ago because Im expecting a mod for that game that has the server with bots that Ill run simultaneously. No other reason. Playing with exploiters and cheaters wasnt in my interest in the first place and it is more of a well, whatever, 'XYZ' didnt make the bots themselves in the first place.
So ... it looks like after all they really hate the idea of getting my money. Too 'bad' I guess :D lol.
looks like another one to pass. Do they really think they can insult their customers and get away with it ? If you dont like it, dont buy, all over again ... xD and here I thought they actually had a moment of enlightenment. To me personally it feels like acting in bad faith. But it is illustrious EA? so who could ever suspect that ?!

@TomaSkTemplarThat will still work in a way. Can still create our own SinglePlayer servers with up to 127 bots (64 vs 64) on NextGen and PC or 63 bots (32 vs 32) on PS4 and Xbox One.
However those are still online only and that is the real problem because when EA Servers go down it becomes completely unplayable no matter how good your internet is.
Can't connect to what isn't there. @Jesse165well, I know there is a half-finished mod for bfbc 2 that I unfortunately could not make to run. I created my account on my own server on my own computer that was as if EA. (master server emulator MASA or so) bot mod that is.
Similar for bf 3 and 4 I believe. The mod redirected the game from ea to my own, modded server or how to name it emulator gets rid of geolocation and other espionage gadgetry.
It is supposedly online but its on my own computer this online :P Real online not required.when the base game works and you only need to be online, redirecting to your own server should work fine. I guess. Kissing EA tentacles goodbye.

A lot of of games you buy today are just rented property which you don't really own. You can find a few titles here and there on platforms like Steam but it's the way it is for now. That's why I'm slowly switching to GOG - no fuss about connection availability, launchers etc. Unfortunately, a lot of devs don't care about DRM free options so you're stuck with a choice to ''rent'' a game or not to play it at all. But it's been slowly changing in positive direction for last few years.
