Such an event in a free to play game would be normal, but heck - 90% of the things that have appeared in this event are available for purchase with battlefield currency, which normally cannot be collected by just playing. Therefore, instead of getting new maps, weapons, some real content, we are crammed with paid skins 😑 as I wrote, if Battlefield 2042 was a free game, it would be quite understandable ... Guys, it looks worse and worse.
That's the thing, if it were a F2P game then it would make sense. It's so frustrating that since we already paid so much for this game and then you also have the battle pass and the other purchasable cosmetics, for them to create this event, hype it up with a trailer full of new cosmetics and then to only make those cosmetics purchasable, doesnt really make this "event" an event. They did nothing but give us a, once again time limited as everything else, game mode, and rewards that simply could have been part of the next battlepass, maybe weekly or log-in rewards or something like that.
This event is nothing but a show of "hey we did something", which is nice and appreciated that they are doing something to bring back the player base, but its just badly executed, as everything else has been. Of course, DICE cannot be fully blamed for this, there is also EA to consider unfortunately.
