Low graphics for PS5 and Series X!

@T0TALfps

@Straatford87

Hi DICE,

Both Series X and PS5 have now support VRR and according to the frame-rate graph (tested on PS5), these consoles still have lots of performance overhead.

Please add an additional Higher graphical mode for these consoles that increases the graphical output at the cost of stable 60fps. Since both consoles still have some performance overhead, many players with an VRR televisions/monitors can tolerate minor frame drops in this higher graphics mode.

All modern games on the PS5 and Series X offer multiple graphical modes and I think a high budget AAA-game like Battlefield should offer this too.

Right now these console can absolutely use some better graphics, as the current one offers stable 60fps with relatively bad graphics (equivalent to PC Medium/High).

Here are some pictures of low LOD (level of detail) when it comes to shadow, foliage and terrain quality on the PS5/Series X:

- Massive foliage pop-in is experienced at 15 meter distance from the player when moving froward in foliage dense maps (Orbital, Renewal, Discarded, Kleidoscope). Short and long grass are suffering the most and its very emerging breaking.

- Shadow draw distance is set to 10 meters, which is unbelievably unacceptable and emerging breaking when shadow is constantly popping in when running or driving in a vehicle. This especially happens to some tree shadows (Kleidoscope) and shadows of destructible object such as fences.

- Shadow quality is set very low on distant trees (currently equivalent to PC Medium/Low).

- Terrain detail is currently set too low where tessellated rocks on the ground pop-in at 15 meter distant (especially visible in the Renewal desert part). As a result the ground is constantly flickering and popping in when the character is running or driving forward.

The pictures represent the pop-in when player moves forward (pictures are taking on PS5 for the representation).

Please add an additional Fidelity Mode for the PS5 and Series X specifically that increased these graphical settings to High/Ultra. A 45-60 fps for this mode is very acceptable for players that demand higher graphics and resolution. Especially considering that many players have VRR screens.

Please DICE, surly this can't be too difficult since 90% of the games on PS5 and Series X already offer multiple graphical settings for the players. It should be the players choice how they want to experience their game. I have seen many players asking for this feature on Reddit and Twitter. Thanks you for understanding and hopefully we can see this in the future.

  • The game is far too demanding for higher visual settings on next gen console!

    Many pc players with high end cards are struggling

    This is not true at all.
    In the BETA, both the PS5 and Series X used a higher graphical fidelity and a higher internal resolution of 1800P (now it’s 1620P).

    Guess what, the performance was a near locked 60fps on both systems.

    Also, keep in mind that the game is horribly optimized on PC when compared to consoles (my 3080 cannot even get a consistent 90%+ GPU utilization combined with an 12700K)

    1. Im simply asking for an additional graphical setting where the player can choose between the current mode (stable 60fps) or a Fidelity mode with higher graphics at the cost of stable 60fps (good for VRR users). I’m NOT asking DICE to force higher graphical output on next gen machines. Again, it should be an option like many other games that have these offerings. It should be the players choice.

  • @NBAasDOGG +1
    I feel that they didn't optimise the game properly. Battlefront 2, which is like 5 years old and hasn't been upgraded for ps5, looks better in some cases

    Your all forgetting that battlefield 2042 has a 128 players and all them players have to be accounted for by the cpu!

    When your taking big chunks of cpu cycles away the gpu is gonna struggle…

  • @NBAasDOGGThe beta was just one map!
    You will get wildly varying degrees of performance in different maps so I presume dice had to meet a middle ground and choose an appropriate graphical setting to keep a constant 60fps on all maps

    I run a 12600k and a 6700xt and get a locked 122fps with an 122hz 1080p monitor no problem on medium……I think your asking far too much from next gen systems

    And that’s why we are asking for an optional graphical setting.

    All other games do it too on the next gen consoles.

    What does the VRR frame graph say? 60fps?

  • Ps5 and Xbox only run the game at 60fps as dice said before launch 120fps is far above the consoles capability
