I hear you @ThaDruSta ,
And actually also myself tending just to dole out the cash for like a Premium experience and access! Just once and getting it over with, so I can enjoy the gameplay and exploration of this new world in peace without having to bother with more monetary transactions.
From the last 3 investor meetings EA have hosted, it does however tend towards a new business model for EA across all their game franchises and platforms. EA appear intend to transform their model from players purchasing licenses to instead having us pay for live gaming as a service. I see the advantage from EA's point of view, as it will eliminated the huge bumps on revenue streams from concentrated about certain launch dates and instead spread it all out across as long as they still have players wanting to play the game.
So expect actually these BF2042 season passes is the first we will see of that kind in the BF world, as expect that we will have to keep buying these going forward on regular intervals as some sort of 'subscription fee' to play the game.

It's not a paid subscription just to play the game. The paid Season Passes are mainly just cosmetics while the stuff that effects gameplay such as New Maps and New Weapons will be FREE for everyone who owns the game itself.- SirBobdk5 years agoSeasoned Ace

And no point in buying passes. I also misunderstood what I was reading.
