Map Filter

You know what I’d like? An option that I think was in all previous versions of Battlefield, the option to set a filter so the game only cycles through the maps I want to play for conquest or other game modes.

Just my opinion, but I don’t care for Hourglass or Kaleidoscope at all. Also my opinion, I’m not 100%  into all the maps that have been reworked. Right now my favorite map, that some people hate, is Discarded if for only the one reason it hasn’t been messed with.

  • @Bottomdog Since we don't have an AOW server browser do you mean like you can select a pool of maps that you want to be dropped into and the match maker would only put you in those maps? I think that sounds pretty good if we're stuck with matchmaking however that would probably impact the purpose of a matchmaker to ensure all servers are full.
  • @Bottomdog That would be handy. I'd filter out Hourglass, or use it for those times when the same map comes up in succession.

Yeah that’s what I’m talking about. Select a pool of maps that I actually want to play. So I can filter out Hourglass and Kaleidoscope. Those 2 maps are awful in my opinion. To big for close quarters combat and just a sniper map for the most part. So many open areas when you’re moving on objectives that snipers can just pick you off.

The matchmaker filtering is basically what CoD does. BF2042 doesn't have the playerbase to accomplish this. Especially with 128P game modes. I'm in US WEST region and still see issue with delay on matchmaking with only 4 or 5 official game modes. I'm convinced there are times where this is only a single full server populated for CQ128. If they had filtering for every individual map for each game mode it would fragment the player pool by 8x the number of gamemodes. Everyone would just be permanently in their own queue waiting for the map they want.

They aren't even close to having the player count to support this.

@DigitalHype I think this is the reason we don’t get a server browser at this time, the game can’t support further diversification of the player base. Steam numbers are up, which implies numbers up in general, but still not nearly enough to be a healthy player base.

And imho the very fact that it didn't have one in the first place, was a major contributor to the low player base we are left with today.

I would like that. Some maps I always back out of them
