@hairy1611 I did. Had it pre-ordered. I still find it almost unplayable online. Every time I tried was just frustrating. The only thing I'm doing with it at the moment until it's in an acceptable state is the odd solo round against AI to play around with the guns and loadouts and to get a feel for the maps.
I'm actually quite enjoying solo in a relaxing sort of way. It plays much smoother and you get a feel for what it might be like if/when they sort out the multiplayer. The solo maps seem to be all on smaller versions of the maps - maybe the ones people on last gen consoles are getting. Maybe a clue to the heart of the issue in online play on the full size maps.
The crazy thing is that you still earn XP, rank up, unlock things. Wonder does it contribute to any other stats? It would be insane if it did - against AI, you can rack up 50+ kills to a couple of deaths. It would render any stats utterly meaningless.
Stats aren't my focus but I do like to know, it gives you some kind of measurement about how you're doing. i think that when they do get the game into some sort of shape, they should give people the ability to reset.
One thing I find astonishing is the reviews in press and on YouTube. Very few of them focus on the issues with the game. I'm beginning to think that the xbox version is much worse than other platforms as some people seem to be having no problem and are enjoying it - there's no way they could if it was on xbox.
- @FatherDed Interesting you mention the map size and last gen—I actually found gameplay more enjoyable during the beta when I was limited to 64 players. Would be nice if they adjusted to include smaller mode server selection if they ever include a selection at all
@hairy1611 Don't know what platform you are on but on the xbox series X when you install, you seem to get 2 versions. It looks like one is the Series X version of the game and the other is the xbox one version. I've not tried to run that one but I'm assuming if I did, it would give me the last gen version of the game with the smaller maps.
- @hairy1611 I also had it pre ordered and am trying really hard to get used to this very different frustrating BF experience. I would also like the option of 64 player matches. I feel the only way we will get to experience smaller modes will be via Portal.
This is what you get on xbox - one version for series x, one for xbox one (you can't see it in the icons but they are named accordingly. One 20GB smaller than the other).
- @FatherDed Yeah I have both — can jump between the old gen and new.
- @FatherDed Hi there, I am on PC so I have spent a lot of time trying to get the game to run smoothly due to the heavy CPU usage issue.
