I could probably just about get by if they added an endgame scoreboard scoreboard. I actually don’t see the point in playing the game without knowing how I did compared to everyone else in terms of team play.
im not interested in skins, gun unlocks or k/d.
but if they fixed that then I’d play more, so then I’d realise that the server browser and map rotation was a problem. So then I’d be sad about that too and probably not play much. Building up a rapport with team mates is another aspect I enjoy and how I met CTC, 722 regulars. So that’s gone now as well.
if they fixed that, then I’d probably play more and notice again how aweful the UI is (on a PS5). Navigation and selection is a headfck.
if they fixed that then I’d play more but then I’d probably notice the overly large maps, that 128 players is a bit too much. But I’d like to think by then I’d have met some regulars and found a server on a server browser that I could favourite and had custom map rotations, lower player size, bigger squads and welll generally a more battlefield feel about it.
classes, bugs, low FPS I can live with. Fundamental game play losses not so much.
- RayD_O14 years agoHero@FlibberMeister Yep scoreboard / server browser are two of the essential minimum requirements IMHO.
- RayD_O14 years agoHero@UP_Hawxxeye Exactly, the core game lacks many basic requirements which are fundamental to enjoying this type of game.
- UP_Hawxxeye4 years agoLegend@RayD_O1 It is becoming more common in modern games that we have to ask ourselves each time: "How did they not see things our way?"
- FlibberMeister4 years agoSeasoned Ace@UP_Hawxxeye Or at least have considered what players were expecting and stated simply that the game was going to take a different or hybrid direction.
It’s patently obvious in the subtleties of their decisions that the designers have targeted a different type/gen of players, and wanted to try something new.
Can’t fault them for that…..
But for us oldies, who have settled into a comfortable norm, change is a totall pain. And will moan like victor meldrew.
Can’t say I’m pleased myself with the current state, and am hopeful it will change.I can always go play BF4. My comfort zone.
But I do feel somewhat sad that it’s gone in this direction, as it’s not what I’m interested in and it feels like a bit of a massive gambit. Would have been much better if they established a clearer definition of game styles, Royal, Classic, Modern, Milsim. Comes to kind.
Royal - is, well royal.
Classic - would be bf1/2/3/4
Modern - would be this love child of Royal/Classic. What bf2042 feels like now
Milsim - would be Hardcore bf4 + Squad like elements.
Now that I could down with. And could have been delivered through preconfigured custom servers.
