With the changes that have seemed to improve issues with rubber-banding and frame rates, along with me just playing more and getting used to it, I'm actually enjoying it now and can see a lot of good/potential in it.
I've been as vocal in my criticisms as others up to now and there's obviously still a lot to do but I think in the end it'll turn out to be a great instalment.
I think one of the things that has contributed to me enjoying it more is that I've been mixing in online play with a few rounds solo against AI. It kind of slows things down and gives you the space to learn the maps more and get used to how weapons feel. And the added bonus of being able to unlock attachments for a new weapon (I think there's some sort of cap in place though) without the pain of playing online with a bog standard gun. I was playing with the SVK marksman rifle and it's awesome - 2 shot kill every time.
I think a lot of the criticism and frustration is still valid but it needs to be in perspective and properly directed (I'm not referring to anyone in this thread but more a general point). It's obviously decisions at a high level that caused the game to be pushed out in this state and some of the design decisions as well. Must be crap to be one of the people at DICE who've put their heart and soul into the game for thee past 3 years of their lives to end up being raged at by folk on reddit or where ever.
Hopefully the updates tomorrow and next week will improve things even more. 🙂 Personally I am still experiencing some performance issues which doesn't help the enjoyment factor.
I am still not a big fan of some of the maps compared to previous BF's and I think 7 maps is a bit sparse. Still don't like matchmaking etc but hopefully the game will be in a better place after more updates and additional maps.
You mentioned playing solo I assume that's on Portal. It may be something I should try out, as you say its good for learning maps and testing new guns etc.

@RayD_O1 I retract all positivity from the previous post. It must have been a blip! Had a couple of rounds this evening and it was back to the usual miserable experience. I'm only playing at this point in the hope of major improvements coming soon.
I think you're right about the maps. Think the 128 player thing just doesn't work at least on these maps. But uts hard to put your finger on the main cause with so many things off.
The sound is a major bug bear for me. I'd taken for granted how good it was in BF5 and how much situational awareness it gave you. And now that's been almost totally taken away. I'm constantly getting taken by surprise, even by vehicles you should hear a mile away.
Hoping the patch tomorrow and the following one s a sizeable step forward. Although I'm amazed that they're nerfing the night bird and hovercraft but no mention of the bolte. It's at least as big a problem as the other 2. They need to be made slower, less nimble. They're so hard to combat.
Patience is thin now. There needs to be at least a glimmer of light soon.
- RayD_O14 years agoHero@FatherDed That pretty much sums it up, the 128 player thing definitely does not work imho. Its a lottery on these maps and the number of times I have spawned and died in a split second makes it difficult to get any consistency or enjoyment. You can have a bit of fun one map and the next one you get slaughtered. I know gaming can be like that but to me it is much more apparent in BF2042 on these maps with 128 players than in previous battlefields. I gave the solo play a go and I agree it helps to get to know your weapons better etc, thanks for the tip. Those bots are not the sharpest tools in the drawer, my K/D never looked so good 🙂. Do those stats count overall. ?
