MBT Aiming Angles

A small but impactful issue I had using MBTs is when enemies get too close or I am going reverse on a hill, I am unable to aim low enough due to reaching the lowest turret angle. on the opposite end, when a heli is standing still in the air, I cannot aim high enough to hit them.

Basing on the Vehicle HUD, MBTs such as M1A5 and T28 turrets can aim down -9 (sometimes -10 Degrees) and 20 Degrees up, while in past titles the lowest you can aim is -12 Degrees down and 20 degrees up for MBTs in BF4 for Example.

The TOR tank can aim -8 Degrees down and 14 Degrees up, which is fine by me as it is already capable to hit  targets above or aircraft, too well if you ask many players.

I find it odd how in game the 20 degree limit is the same in game yet in BF4 I am able to aim higher and able to even aim at the right altitude aircraft are moving while in 2042 I am a couple degrees short to aim high enough.

Assuming the Degree indicator in 2042 is correct, I think the M1A5 and T28 MBTs need to be able to aim lower, from -10 to -12 or more Degrees consistently, while aiming up should be increased to 25 degrees from 20 degrees at least. TOR tank I recommend shouldn't really get this change except being able to aim lower like the other MBTs as otherwise it would be a bigger threat to aircraft as it already is sometimes.

If DICE wants to go further, the MAV first weapon seat needs to aim lower as it does struggle to hit infantry when they are very close by, and for other weapon stations that don't have the same hud like the MBTs and armored vehicles have should get an turret Aim Angle indicator similar to either the BF4 style of passenger weapons or what we currently have in 2042.

  • @BownrInSweatPanz I have this issue too. I find myself doing what I did with Saint chamond and A7V in BF1, by trying to drive my tank up a hill/incline in order to aim high enough to hit aircraft. I did not have to do this in bf3 and bf4. This is supposed to Bea Futuristic battlefield the tanks should be able to aim higher and lower
  • @BownrInSweatPanz I think the goal is to create some level of balance. They could be faster, and bounce less (way less) and traverse faster and have better elevation… which would make them pretty OP. I don’t love them, past games had better tanks and still achieved balance, I’m not sure these devs could achieve that now.

@BownrInSweatPanzYeah this is a major problem. Tanks are already slow as is, regularly get stuck on leaves and pebbles, and now we have hypermobile specialists which didn't exist in the history of Battlefield. Yet the tanks have restricted turret angles compared to previous titles.

So essentially infantry mobility was buffed while ground vehicle mobility and agility was nerfed all at the same time. But thank god the Nightbird can do spins and turns that break the laws of physics.

Once again DICE is completely lost in balancing the most basic of gameplay aspects. Completely clueless and out of touch.

  • The tanks desperately need to be able to defend better their close perimeter as well as being able to accelerate much faster than now.

The current tanks are not fun and promote campy playstyle

The turrets should be able to aim lower and higher even if they have to clip into the model of the tank

  • What annoys me the most about the MAV is all the doodads and equipment up top pretty much block 65% of your acreen depending on the seat you're in - would love if it had wall/object protection like other games (for example Demon's Souls when the camera gets too close to your character and you become invisible).

I don't mind the vicinity protection of most tanks as you can specifically pick that in some kits and/or pulse detection should be enough if you're hyper-aware, but I cannot stand tanks movement controls -- absolutely horrid.

I've already T1'd most of the land vehicles but man was it a slog when trying to do simple turns. Are my thumbs just crooked? Am I just not smart and left isn't actually left? I don't know anymore.

@TTZ_Dipsy vehicle physics in 2042 in general need a lot of improvement, such as tanks not turning fast while stationary in comparison to BF4 or V, but I'm researching more about it to see how big the issues are, especially with Vehicles not having enough weight which results in flipovers or annoyance, and also acceleration issues where vehicles either won't climb stairs or slide down El Alamein slopes, even with boost.

@ATFGunr Tanks still pretty much get blown up by nightbirds and C5 so there's that. The changes I suggested is minor and situational anyways.

They managed it in past titles with even more tanks in total per team than now.

We always had mines and C4 in past titles to turn the tank into a barbecue.

Now we even got EMP grenades, EMP drones and a hacking gadget that even turns off the APS.

Tanks have never had so many counters.

If a team does not use them  cause they do not want to switch out of their MLG pro falk loadout then it is one them
