MCS-880
Was there a huge nerf to this gun? It's in wet noodle mode. I've constantly had >1m upper torso / headshots and it should be killing people at this range. I've tried with all ammo types, and it's the...
@AuMordum It's hard to balance shotguns in games sure, but our MCS-880 is just all over the place..
@T0TALfps @Straatford87 Feedback time! 😊

I will forward this.
As a heads up in the meantime - the next game update will see a change to Shotguns where they don't deal damage past a certain range which should help alleviate concerns about them being too powerful at distance.
If you feel the MCS-880 isn't performing consistently otherwise, please keep sharing your thoughts.
@Straatford87 Thank you! 🙏😘💕
I strongly urge you to reconsider this change. One thing i’ve always liked about shotguns in battlefield is the lack of “bullet vanish”. Why not adjust the damage falloff at a distance rather than make the damage disappear entirely?

Not sure if you grasp what the issue is. It is NOT that this particular shotgun balanced in a bad way -- or not at all -- it is the (VERY) bad hit registration of the current game. Just with those one hit weapons (like shotguns at close range where you can ensure all pellets should hit and you would deal well over 100 damage but then half the pellets do not register AT ALL) it is much easier to tell than counting hit markers having to factor in player health before you him them and also if they hard armor or not.
You surely did not miss that there is a whole thread about this problem.
In short: it's not the MCS-880, it's the hitreg of BF2042.
Hi Tom,
Could the team see these cases?

Please don't do that. Of all the things that kill people, shotguns are already far from the top even in close quarters.

Were...shotguns ever a problem or overperforming at range? I literally can't ever think of a time where shotguns at mid-long range have ever been unbalanced or "too strong".
Like...are y'all just playing a completely separate branch of 2042 than the rest of us? Because based off the proposed nerf to the K30 at short-range (not mid-long range) and this change it honestly feels like y'all are playing a completely different version of BF2042 is those were your (the studio's, not your specifically) takeaways : |
Shotguns are in the worst state of all franchise history, they need a buff rather than a nerf. Stop nerfing things not overpowered and waste those precious resources in something that can make the game closer to playable, like kbm support for consoles.
