Musings about different ways of Controlling the jets and the helicopters on PC

For the longest of time I was using the same controls for both the planes and the helicopters.

But after the recommendation of some really good pilots out there, I changed my helicopter controls to  the so called "Rifle aiming" controls.

This means that I have set the pitch up and pitch down control to work just like the aiming of the infantry guns so that tracking targets with the guns of the helicopter feels more unitive.

It took several hours to get used to it but now it feels better than before (it feels horrible until you get used to it though).

But now when I am using the jets, I seem to have a muscle memory conflict between the traditional jet control and the rifle aim helicopter control.

I bet it has a bit to do with how I was not practicing jets much these days as well as how they tampered with the sensitivity of the jets in 5.3

But does anyone out there use the jets with the mouse forward pitching up instead of down etc? I sometimes wonder if it would be easier to aim precisely if I rifle aim with the jets too or if that would make dogfighting harder

  • You mean yaw? Rifle aim works when there is no roll, only yaw and pitch. Q and E as rolling.

I just realized that I had gotten a reply here

Wont that make the dogfighting part harder to do though? I mean rolling  tends to be really important to have a fine control on when dogfighting.

It would had been great if I could have a different set of controls to rifle aim only for when the jet is zoomed in in third person which is also its biggest zoom meant for precision vs the ground.
