no RTX

Gentlemen from DICE, I just found out that for some unknown reason you will not have RTX of global illumination, shading and reflections, you are always sharper than progress, and suddenly this is why? What happened suddenly? Are you not a referred developer anymore?

  • @PVN047I dont think it's NOT coming, I'm guessing you've seen the Nvidia article advertising DLSS and nvidia reflex and assumed that because DXR Is not mentioned that it won't be coming?

We know Frostbite has DXR as BFV has shown.

I'm guessing we'll have DXR AND DLSS and Reflex tech for Nvidia GPU's.

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

@LOLGotYerTags On the NVIDIA website, there is a section, games with RTX, and it says what a particular game supports ... And BF2042 does not indicate support for RTX lighting, right? When as for the same Wotch Dogs 3 is indicated ...

Moreover, what technology is used in the game is specifically indicated.
Even in those games that didn't come out ...

@PVN047 My guess is that it's a multiplayer only title and RTX wasn't a good fit for multiplayer in BF5.

Correct. For Nvidia's Gamescom 2021 announcement, they specify that DLSS and Reflex will be the technologies at play. It's not unreasonable to assume that if DICE were to implement ray tracing, GI or ray cast shadows (a la MW) they might do it at some point in its lifecycle. But at the moment, those aforementioned technologies are the only ones that would be reasonable to expect on launch.

@PVN047I'd wager it's because the vast majority of players still won't have cards that can do Ray tracing (according to steam hardware survey) so it's not a priority. Simple as that. And most people who play competitively on PC turn the graphics to potato mode anyway for extra frames. So again what's the point implementing a feature that only 2% of the user base will actually use.
    Just my thoughts.

In this case, @HankBizzle I think you may need to turn the question around. Would Nvidia not make sure that a partner help push their latest cards?

If games do not support them, their cards will not sell, and so there is ample reason for Nvidia to secure that the full feature set of their latest cards are in the latest AAA games.
