Not able to join servers with more than 4 players to play together

Product: Battlefield 2042
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
AMD or Nvidia Model Number RTX 3080
Enter RAM memory size in GB 32GB DDR4
Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Multiplayer
Which part of the mode? Conquest
Please select your region Europe
On which server did this happen? All
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) Today, all evening
Summarize your bug Maybe this is just us, being stupid and unable to figure out how to do it, but we lost the whole evening trying to figure out how to properly play together. So either a very serious bug or just that: us, being stupid. The problem is, that we (12 clan mates) wanted to play on launch day (today -- we all got the Gold or Ultimate editions to not have to deal with the 'delayed access' the standard edition preorder users have to deal with) wanted to enjoy some rounds of Conquest on the new maps. We were unable to figure out how to join a server. We could not create a party with more than 4 users at any one time (but all 12 were visible in the 'SOCIAL' menu). We had this issue in BF5 before, where we had to do the usual 'dance' to join first with only 4 players, then split up in 2-3 squads and then the others could follow. Not ideal to say the least, but it worked. Now in 2042 we are excited to finally get something new, but we wasted one whole evening on figuring out how to do the most basic thing and the one thing that is at the heart of BF: play together with friends. Only 4 could join a server, but we did not find ANY way to spit up and create 2-3 new squads for the others to join. Can someone please tell us how to achieve this? We tried the 'Leave Party' button, which somehow made this menu entry disappear (so it did 'something'), but the player that left the party STILL was in the squad. No new squad was created and other players not yet on the server could still not join on him. So, either it is a bug that it is currently not possible to join the same server (then we hope it gets fixed until the 'delayed access' players are also able to play) or we are too stupid. In the case of the latter, could someone please point out what to do to be able to join an official All-Out Warfare server with 12 players on the same team in 3 different squads?
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Just try to join any conquest/breakthrough server with 12 (more than 4 would be enough) players on the same team in 3-4 different squads.
What happens when the bug occurs? Some players are stuck in the main menu and cannot join the server(s). One selects 'Leave Party' and is still locked into one squad.
What should be happening instead? Being able to play together with friends as it is supposed to be working (and was working until this iteration).

  • @RayD_O1mate this is about more than four players, there is a separate request for server browsers 😉

It's related, but I would prefer to have the full social functionality to enable me to keep my mates on the same side of the team, in the squads, on the same servers even through map changes.

@omitfl0wAll this about squads and friends staying together and now it seems that’s not enough.
imo that’s not fair play and each map change everyone should get shuffled for team balance.
What this is about is small clan vs 4 who never played together which is overpowered to the clan.
I doubt that will never happen and it should not.
Now unless some how huge clans are lined up ala league style play is set up would something like that be acceptable.
You guys trying to stack your squads is just lame.

@k1u73I get what you are saying. Would be interesting if that's the same thought process behind it by DICE as they have never commented on it. I don't think the impact on 128 player maps will be huge, but fair point.

Still, I think in a game like Battlefield we should have the chance to get our group of dads together one evening a week and play together without any hurdles & hacks. At least with more than just four players & on servers where we can participate in XP progression, weekly challenges etc. Portal servers are ok, but still can't attract a larger enough crowd to fill up to 128 players/64 players if not persistent & without XP.

With squad-based voice chat (another no-brainer missing functionality) any random squad should be en-par with a small clan.

@omitfl0w Its not a bug, its a feature.
BF2042 was never designed as a Battlefield game, it was designed as a Something Royal game, where it would be a really bad idea, if several squads of your friends could join the same server.
  • A simple solution don't have more than 3 friends!  Problem solved.

@omitfl0wIt’s the way it’s been for just about every fps game I have ever played.
While your reasoning is humble and you may think that’s enjoyable till you come across another 4 player team that is hardcore and just grapes your team to nothing.
Same for any clan 3 groups of 4 from the same clan for example.
And trust me they have 100+ clans out there that would make you and yours “dads night out” totally miserable.
As for voip equating to a team that’s on discord that plays with each other that fine tunes their tactics and strats to a random hodgepodge of n00bs I’m not buying it.
As for me a league player from 12v 9v 5v we would totally dominate any average group that had the misfortune of facing us.
That’s old and bygone days but what you are suggesting is as well.

    Edit: it’s called “team stacking”
