I'm glad more people are wanting this. DICE has been implementing so much new things worthy of praise. If they went with this it could set a new golden standard for BF games.

Oh I am certain that you have 10,000s of players that would want this. But still that is not enough to make it a viable direction for EA to take their game platform, due to the added costs to implement it. Also ask yourself, how much would you then be willing to pay for it?
A way to look at how other games have gone through various philosophical architecture stages can be helpful but also support your case that it could be made. (of course it could, is my own answer as IT person). A great example is the Minecraft world. You may recall in its earlier days, we all could even download also the full server version of this. Setup the a PC at private home, share the IP online, where we could decide if it should be open to all or just invited friends. And we had different server templates we could set up as we desired. And we could edit all the contents and server parameters ourselves.
Later you then started to see companies popping up that developed various types of plugins, that could be loaded onto your server to enable very fancy features not available in the original at all. Then you also started to have companies that offered to host your Minecraft servers. Even set up and manage them also, if you didnt want to yourself or if you didnt feel comfortable with the tech. An you literally had 1,000s of such tech companies worldwide. And sure a ton of fun was shared all around!
But the monetizing modeling and the payer/player awards thing is a tough one to handle over time to keep everybody benefitting to the extend they feel reasonably compensated. You can read a bit on the Minecraft story here, which is quite fascinating:

Always wanted to play Minecraft but somehow I never managed to pick it up. The story is fascinating that's a given. You bring up an interesting point-I'm wondering if all this can be regulated by law but again to benefit of players? Myself would gladly pay even triple the price, yet that's just me. The fact that DICE announced new game +remastered maps +bots is why there is such big stir in community and sole good reason for it's implementation. Some answer from company would be nice. But I totally get what you're saying.
- 5 years ago@dragonslayerxxx1 I am 100% absolutely, positively, without question, completely against ANY government involvement in regulating video games--especially when gamers plead for government to get involved to give them something that the company in question can't, or doesn't, want to give for whatever reason. Gamers do not own those companies, or games, and they aren't owed anything from them. Just because a company makes a game doesn't mean gamers somehow get to run to government and tell them "Make that company give me what I want!" That is such entitled, whiny, selfish, economically-illiterate BS!

@ChugKendallYeah, again I wasn't clear enough - my fault, happens to me quite often. I was referring to Minecraft situation which @CyberDyme mentioned about other companies having their own server option to offer. Let's say 2042 gets everything I mentioned and somebody gets a ''nice'' idea to monetize their servers. There are some laws that regulate this or even EA's EULA , I think?
