What is this "vocal minority" you speak about. Almost the whole playerbase has left the game and vehicle/infantry-balance is a big part of this problem.
The maps just doesn't work for combined warfare and until the maps are fixed, removing/nerfing vehicles are the only option available.
I agree about some of the changes being weird. Reducing the number of attack vehicles seems fair, but transport vehicles must be like in BF4, "almost useless" offensively (like a jeep). Seems like the "missing content" bites Dice once again, they do not have any transport vehicles in the game.
Was/is vehicle - inf balance the reason why we see a peek of 2k players on steam? No, it is an issue for sure but even without data to back it up I can confidently say this game didn't tank because of some annoying interactions, so I'm going to have to disagree on that point. Seeing how other titles have more vehicle/inf interactions but have a healthier population and gameplay. If that was the case you'd see people swarming back with these proposed changes.
Balance should also be separated between conquest and breakthrough since both game modes (at least since the last time I played 4 months ago) are vastly different and have different needs. I can agree from what I've seen that BT needs a reduction and adjustments, no one wants to get shelled in a choke point and have 0 meaningful gameplay, but conquest was always geared to be larger scaled. So currently my complaint in regards to this reply is simply the lazy one sweep handling of this issue that may be healthy for one game mode, but poor in execution in the other.

@Anti-Tank-KillerThe vehicle / infantry balance has been a big issue, mentioned again and again in the forums and everywhere else. Saying that is a 'vocal minority' seems incorrect.
100+ players are infantry all the time and you need to make sure that most of the players have fun playing the game. If that means that vehicles must be nerfed to oblivion so be it.
I think the biggest issues with vehicle/infantry balance is map design and player count.
I love BF4 and play it still (much more than 2042) and that game has overpowered vehicles, but most of the maps works in a way where infantry can cope with the vehicles. 2042s maps doesn't, as infantry you are left i large open areas, totally at the mercy of vehicles way too often. i mean if you want to play vehicles exclusively sure you have to wait longer now but hear me out on this instead of sitting 120s in a spawn screen you could use the free time to, and i need you to hold your horses now, play as infantry. shocking revelation i know it took me a long time to get to that realization as well..... but i am here to impart wisdom where i go

@X-Sunslayer-XWow no way, was that put in a new update? Last time I played all I could get was error messages and I thought that was core gameplay, thank you for sharing and also letting us know you didn't bother to read the original post but instead opted to be a pizza cutter that is all edge with no point! With constructive on topic and relevant posts like this, the game will get back those 98k players in no time! You did it, you saved the game, pat yourself on the back please you deserve it!
- 4 years ago@cso7777 Thinking you will ever make 1 player base completely happy is a pretty big stretch lol, while a majority may be infantry players,due to design, it is not an infantry only game so there is to be compromise expected otherwise what is the point of sinking time and dev assets into a part of the game if it is only going to cater to one player base in the end?
There are 64 players on both sides, you are telling me that 50+ people have an issue using rocket launchers and C5 on tanks? That sounds like a skill and adaptability issue.
And yes, the maps are horrid, the designs are trash, the damage profiles in general are all over the place but again inf/veh interaction that has been around since bf 1942 is not whats suddenly causing this game to be dead. So I'll say your argument of 'making sure the most players have the most fun' is a pretty * poor outlook when it has worked in the past (although with fewer players) and is super counter productive when it comes to solutions besides just pointing fingers and being mad some people prefer a different play style. Infantry players paid money for this product just like the heli player, and just like the tank players, and the bush campers and the jet players, it is quiet possible to have fun and not kneecap others.- cso77774 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Anti-Tank-KillerSo you think that vehicle players needs to be happy (the minority) and then the majority (infantry) just have to suck it up?
The balance of vehicles/infantry are so bad and the vehicles have to be nerfed, the game is way too bad for infantry at the moment.
Far from all infantry should use C5 or rocket launchers. Infantry have different roles (gadgets) and killing vehicles is just one of them. Just like BF has always been. Older titles normally only had one class made for fighting vehicles.
