This is purely speculation but BFV required a minimum of FX-8350 CPU or I5 6600K, and a GTX1050 or GTX 660 while recommending a 4 core CPU and a 1060 6GB or RX580 8GB. BF1 Required a minimum of a FX6350 or I5 6600K and a GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7850 2GB, and a recommended FX8350/i7 4790 with a RX480 or GTX 1060 3GB. From this very unscientific hypothesis and prior knowledge of PC specs and cross gen gaming,
BF2042 COULD Have a minimum spec of a Ryzen 3 1300X, I7 4790, (Really just a 4 core CPU) GTX 1050Ti or RX 560 (Really just any GPU with over 4GB of VRAM
a Recommended spec of a Ryzen 5 2600 or i5 8400 with a GTX 1070/80 or RX 580 (Any GPU with at least 6-8GB of VRAM) and for RTX probably a Ryzen 7 3700 and an I7 8-9th gen. Obviously these are just educated guesses but Realistically I expect around this. DLSS and RTX will be in the game so I expect that will be a huge impact to these specs.I would expect a similar level of requirements to BFV but naturally moved up a few generations of hardware to enable to updated game engine ect.
Most likely the same as battlefield V, the minimum requirements tend to stay the same for some years. The processor could much more important though because of the increased players in a match.

If the PC version is the same as the next-gen consoles (which it probably is), then the requirements could be higher than BFV. The new consoles has a lot of CPU/GPU-power compared to the old consoles and this could mean that 6C, 4C/8T CPUs and 'older' GPUs (GTX10xx) will become minimum specs. The new consoles has more GPU-power than a GTX1080 and more or less the same CPU-power as a Ryzen 7 2700...
BF1/BFV was already struggling a lot with minimum specs (the BF-forums was full of complains about this) and thinking that BF2042 runs well on a 7 year old PC will probably not be realistic.
Personally I think CPU-usage could be the biggest issue, graphics can more easily be 'scaled down' than things like player-count, destruction, physics etc.
But again we will have to see, it is all just speculation at this point.
They have to be careful in this respect because of the ridiculous gpu shortages
- @emerson1975 so true, if that situation isn't solved soon (most likely won't) I think the number of people playing the game in 128 player matches will be a bit low. Last time I read about it the new gen consoles are still being scalped and are rare to come by...
It will be nice if we can know at least minimum hardware requirements before preordering game.
thank you.
