Personal Avatars and Default Classes
I see there is a lot of discussion and concern with the Specialists amongst the Hardcore Realism crowd. I personally can understand why EA is going that direction, but share some of the same concern as others. Many of us fear we are going to be fighting Batman and Tony Stark rather than another soldier. With that being said there is no way EA is going to reverse course and I'm not sure they have to in order to please the Hardcore Realism audience.
I think it would be a really good idea to allow for a custom Avatar that can be used as a default soldier between classes. This default avatar would not benefit from the special gadget or trait that the specialists do. An additional option would be to allow for turning off the special/ gimmick gadgets in private servers. Long time BF players like myself that are seeking the traditional experience that is more grounded.
Ubisoft has provided more in this regard in R6 Siege and GR Breakpoint since those games launched. COD MW provided a default faction specific avatar, though with no aesthetic customization. EA as a competitor should do this even better and sooner.
I may be jumping ahead like others, and BF 2042 may already have plans for this. I think it is important to discuss it now just in case. Specialists may make sense for EA and others in the BF community, but there is a sizeable crowd that would like to have ownership of their own avatar and play an experience that isn't going to be ruled by gimmick gadgets like R6 Siege. Were not asking to eliminate specialists, but to provide players options to where they do not have to use them or can control the use of their gadgets in servers. Providing a default player/avatar for each class can help resolve the concern. Providing game options that limit use of specialists or gadgets can help promote a hardcore realism experience as well.
Thank you!
