@0_KatsuiBig issue that specialists have introduced is kits that have unlimited of a specific resource. If I pick regular gadgets like the M5, AA or C5 I am limited to the amount of ammo I have and have to either seek out support to give me ammo or run ammo my self. You are constantly reminded you need other players to be 100% effective.
While specialists have introduced a way to run as a complete self sustainable unit. AA, M5, C5 + Angel 100% up time (never waiting for ammo box cooldown). run as Lis and have unlimited anti tank/air rockets, run as Sundance and you have unlimited nades on short cooldown. Etc etc etc.
They killed the dna that makes up a Battlefield game with the specialists. Plus it wasn't necesarry any of these specialists gadgets could have just been part of the regular gadgets. And in that way could have been balanced better and be stronger, since they are unlimited in it's current form they sometimes feel lack luster. Take the Lis rockets for instance makes it far easier to hit targets but they tickle most vehicles, so I feel since the introduction I don't see many people running her anymore. And if they just slightly up the power it'll be basically OP so it will remain lack luster.
Instead had they just added a second AT option next to the M5 in the form of a wire guided rocket with only 2 ammo slots could make them much more powerful without being broken.
Same with Rao, they could have added a hacking gadgets with batterys that have to be refilled at an ammo box or w/e.
Just think that finite resources are very important for a game like Battlefield.
@doubleomeGreat, you've just described all prior BF games, where people need support class for ammo, while support has unlimited ammo for nade spam.
Was that supposed to argue against specialists?
Gadgets don't bring condemnation to specialists. The two are not related. TV Missiles that regenerate slowly don't compare to the destructive power of assault classes with immediate resupply, and that's a player's choice, not a specialist flaw.
Perhaps you've only played BFV? Resource management in BF2042 is exactly as any other BF, any less and nothing will be practical.

@0_KatsuiDon't think support getting 'unlimited' nades is really an issue they have to sacrifice their main gadget slot in order to do so.
Also I wouldn't mind support only having 2 boxes and allowing them to pick them back up.
The hacking mechanic of Rao is just one of those things specialists brought into the game I just feel the game could really do without. Where will it end? This system is a free for all when it comes to designing new specialists, gadgets and mechanics. Just for the sake of adding something new, when that starts happening anything goes out the window the only goal is to add something new and where will it end?
