Please remove or give option to turn off Tinnitus effect

I have tinnitus and while there are games I don't mind for example Battlefield 1 has a Tinnitus effect, in that game the sound effect is very mild and short and doesn't bother my tinnitus.

But for Battlefield 5 they made the sound last around 10 or so seconds, super long, very annoying and it would hurt my ears or remind me about it to the point I had to uninstall the game.

I own all Battlefield and BF5 is the only game I got single digit hours invested because of that annoying problem, the reason is because in the game there is an explosion every minute so you would hear the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE non stop, and I worry that in Battlefield 2042 is gonna be the same, please give an accessibility setting to disable that sound effect or at least to reduce it.

Here is an example of the sound, now imagine that in BF5 or 2042 but way louder, long lasting and extremely often.

    @CyberDyme

    Changing the frequency range? really?

    What if a player does not have the technical knowledge to tone down a very specific range of Hz's (likely most of the community)? Wouldn't it be easier to have an option to disable that effect?

    No sorry @rouvio ,

    That would not work because the specific frequency range(s) triggering the tinnitus for sufferers are very individual.  So one size does unfortunately not fit all, so to speak.

    And please, let's not try and overcomplicate the actions involved to change the EQ settings for your speakers or headset.  Its part of consumer electronic now since the 1970ties...  Most of these have detailed online step by step guides to follow.  And these few steps involved to set your sound equalizer settings are honestly much simpler than what it takes to start your BF game and handle your soldier.  🙂

    @ZORDCOMRAD In other games like some previous Battlefields they didn't have tinnitus effect kinda like in BFBC2 and instead they would just mute/muffled the entire game for a period of time. They could just make it so when you uncheck the tinnitus sound effect it would make it like the previous games.

    I'm not asking for an advantage but for a way to replace the sound or reduce the game sound entirely for that duration of that explosion.

    Here is an example: https://youtu.be/XIXMOiDEJbc?t=588
    Reducing the entire Master Sound from the game like you recommend puts me on a disadvantage and will make things hard to hear. On top of that the ear will get used to listening for quiet sounds til it becomes normal and the problem will come back again where the tinnitus sound will become annoying. Think it like your eyes getting used to dark.

    Metro Exodus has the option to disable it and the sound gets replaced by muffled.

    @CyberDyme Thank you, I will check it out, I still hope that the devs address this and give an option for it.

    I can deal with certain tinnitus sound like Bf2's and Bf1 tinnitus sounds but the ones from Bf5 are so high pitch and so long that to certain people will give headaches or become very annoying since explosions happens very often.

    Also I watched a bit of videos from BF 2042 and when you get hit by multiple explosions the tinnitus sound will change more and more, sometimes getting more sharp.

    @CyberDyme

    The point is being missed here and quite honestly your replies are being a little aggressively self-confident and assertive. Your perception of right is not necessarily right, and what is simple to you might not be for others. The OP is requesting an option to turn off the sound effect. I'm certainly not overcomplicating anything - on the contrary - having an option to disable that sound effect is much simpler than diving in EQ settings regardless of what year or era the consumer electronic is a part of.

    With that said I still respect your comments and thoughts, just ease off a little from the my way or the highway approach brother. Some folks do not think like you and might have various different reasons not to agree with you.

    /salute.

    @CyberDyme Yeah, certain sounds ranges will trigger it, but I'm not asking for the overall sound changes, but for this specific sound effect that can be heard by pretty much anyone.

    Sometimes depending of the explosion effect it will be louder or a bit quiet. Like I said, having an option in accessibility settings would be nice and just could make it so the game goes muffled for the period of the tinnitus sound effect. I just think they kinda over did it this time since is not only louder but long lasting.

    And while I agree with the use of software to countermeasure the issue, is still a bit of work to put, specially for non techsavy users, kinda like colorblind that they might have to change their settings for themselves.

    That "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" is one of the reasons i dont play bfv with sound anymore.

  • Bump, at least any answer from a dev would be fine on this subject.
