@Wargame_Enj0yer Yes the helicopters need the free get-out-danger-card because even with the highest skill level, it is impossible to evade lock on weapons. If there would be a method, to evade the lock on weapons, then yes, the flares are not necessary, but if you don't take it away, there can't be another solution because. And if you get rid of the infinite amount of flares, you need a possibility to fill up the charges again. There must be a counterplay.
What I think is some kind of problem, it the limited amount of ammunition for infantry against air. Sure, you can resupply, but only with the help of other players. There was a better solution in BF5 with the crates at the flags.

Impossible? I've seen enough skilled helicopter pilots that can use the map design to effectively evade lock on weapons. They will use flares to counter the first incoming lock-on weapon, by the time the flares are done and the second lock-on is fired they are either behind a building or behind the hills resulting in rockets to miss. They sit there in cover for a bit reloading the flares and from there it's rinse and repeat. Only effective counter for that is an equally skilled pilot on your team who will hunt them down, but usually they are busy with exactly the same infantry farming tactic.

@RanzigeRidder2 as you said it yourself, he needed the first flares to get some distance. You can use natural objects to counter lock on weapons but you can't do this all the time, you need distance, so you can fit an object between. So it would become an issue, if the flares wouldn't be available anymore.
Believe me, I don't think that the helicopters are balanced either, but at the moment, to limit the flares, would just make the game unplayable for air.

With the below radar mechanic that got added good pilots can keep the heli alive for the duration of full matches and farm infantry all day.
Limiting flares might not be the solution but perhaps an increased regeneration time is.- 3 years ago
@RanzigeRidder2 I don't think an increased cooldown will help much, the pilot just stays behind cover some more seconds, as infantry, you are still screwed.
I understand, that the littlebird pilots need a lot of skill, my solution would be more weapons, that are using skill against them. The only two options, infantry has are rockets (rpg and recoilless) and Liz rocket. Every other weapon is no reliable option or does too less damage. And the rockets are too limited.
There have to be more ways to counter it, for example something with a bigger spread than the rpg but with less damage, or other solutions, which are based on Teamplay.
- 3 years ago@RanzigeRidder2 Yep. The only way to bring down any helo is another helo, this much is certain. Infantry has no chance, none. I really hope this changes with whatever comes next.

You want to change a core part of the game because you deem it impossible to kill a helo as infantry? Why not nerf other infantry so you don't have to worry about infantry either?

@skates15well the 20mm AA used to help until the screaming started.
By the way, the pilot side of me wants to retort to the OP about the removal of the unlimited respawning infantry.

The 20mm AA was bugged. You can't tell when it's hitting you.
