I have seen some youtube about the portal and feel like playing BF42 / BC2 / BF3 again on a new engine. It looks pretty good. Is that also the case?
I would like to hear your experiences with the portal and those games.
What is positive and what is negative.
Consider trying it out this weekend with a 10 hour trial.
I had fun playing a round on each of the BF42 Classic maps.
I feel like I could get into just BF42 Classic if they added more maps and supported with improvements/refinements. But who knows how I would feel after the nostalgia factor wears off.
I don't really have much interest in replaying BC2 or BF3.
BF42 Classic tho is a different story. I think because it's so easy to get into and that was the first BF game and the first I played. And the graphics jump is a big leap. While the game is a big leap back to simpler and more brutal times.

BFV is still haunting me, so I'm a little cautious. After 20 years, it's hard to just leave the series. I want BF2042 to be a success, but it will probably take more months of development.

It's not bad but it does not feel like playing the old game at all to me.
The Maps are the same and they feel like the originals. The flow is really nice and visuals are amazing.
But gunplay and vehicles especially are just like 2042.
Yes you cant slide or go prone in bc2 but that doesnt change the fact that the movement is still more similar to 2042 than bc2.
That's ok for the most part but saing it's like the old games is just wrong.
The vehicles also have the new physics. Air does really feel different from their originals.
Also the lack of some very popular upgrades like the TV missiles in BF3 do just feel wrong.
Also the classes are just like the specialists but with restrctions in their loadout.
You cant pick up a class from dead soldiers. Only the weapons. You cant use perks like in BF3. the classes have set passives.
Overall the mode lacks in gameplay detail to be really compared to the originals.
The design team for the maps did an awesome job tho!

It has so much potential but currently, unless you are running a bot farm that is constantly packed, if you do get any visitors in they tend to see you are not farming and dissappear quickly. I have given up hosting for now.
It is disappointing but what can you do but wait for the issue to be resolved.

Yeah, my only plan (if I buy the game) was to play coop and PvP with friends only so it sounds like it's perfect for us. I loved BF3 and BC so I look forward to being able to tweak those a bit and play with my PS buddies.
Question..... Can you set passwords for your Creations so no randoms will join? I heard you could but wanted to confirm with someone who actually knows for sure. Thanks.

Yes, you can set a Password.
@SirBobdk Portal to me is freaking amazing. The only down side is that not all of the BF3 weapons and maps are in Portal and I'd do some shady stuff to get the BF2 maps in Portal as well.
Portal solves most of my issues with the core game design but it's still weird that we need to create our own experiences to get a core Battlefield experience in 2042.
The down side is that I get tired playing the same few maps all of the time so we need much more legacy map content in Portal.
