Post 1.1 jet 25mm autocannon impressions

I did some preliminary testing  vs bots first to see how it fares in a more controlled environment.

The 25mm now seems to fit its description of a gun specialized for aircraft and soft ground targets.

It now feels similar to the guns of the nightbird but with less spread and one single line of bullets to aim with instead of 2 crossing ones.

I am not sure if the bullet "beam" is misaligned compared to the sights or if it is just me.

The new 25mm can finally kill infantry targets too if the pilot is precise (I mean there is no splash). A well aimed BRRRRT from it can dispatch exposed infantry or even heli pilots, It will probably make some skyscraper snipers a bit salty. You could even say that the Jets can also get the "infantry killer" tag too now.

I tried it also on a multiplayer match with real people but my luck had it that I ended up on the US side and as we all know the RU jet is slightly better at turning and accelerating so I had a bad time catching up on someone  constantly trying to tire me with infinite turns.

I think they are zeroed to a certain distance like the nightbird mini guns which you need to aim higher if you are too close and aim lower if you are too far. For jets it’s the same thing but since you need to get very close to see infantry and then shoot, the aiming feels off.

The bigger problem is that the AGMs were overnerfed. 20 second reload for 1 AGM makes it useless for any ground vehicle more armored than a Bolte which nobody seems to use anymore. So now you have to choose between missiles that only work well against the only other attack aircraft (which you should be using guns for anyway) but hardly put a dent into the transports or AGMs that are only useful against LATVs.

Honestly the whole jet gameplay system needs an overhaul. The META shouldn’t revolve around tight circle dogfights with guns like they’re propeller planes in WWII.

Ideally the user should be able to adjust the battle sight settings like adjusting rifle sights in any other BF game.

  • Hmmm, curious how this buff will affect the day to day lives of infantry.

How many infantry kills are ace jet pilots going to be getting per match?  Probably more than before, but still far less than if that same pilot selected any of the other air vehicle options.

Now that jets pose a (small) threat to infantry I'd hope that DICE takes a look at the infantry AA options and gives us the means to poke back.

The question will be if you see jets at all anyway. When you only have one attack vehicle to select from, why wouldn't you pick a stealth chopper still?
