Pre-Ordering Physical/Disk for BF 2042 Gold & Ultimate Editions

Hello,

I am trying to pre-order the Ultimate Edition of Battlefield 2042 for the PS5, but I cannot seem to find anywhere that is allowing preorders for a physical/disk version. Either if its a mom-and-pop retailer or big chains like BestBuy or GameStop, the only physical preorders they have for BF 2042 are for the Standard Edition.

My question is, are there going to be physical/disk versions for the Gold & Ultimate editions, or are these editions of the game exclusive to digital storefronts and ownership only?

I can't imagine that to be the case: why would I be denied content for simply wanting to purchase a physical version of the game?

Thank you in advance,

Zumester

I asked GameStop where's the physical gold edition for ps5. They couldn't give me an answer because I hate buying digital versions. I cancelled with them and reordered the standard physical edition through Amazon. I am confused why they expect people to spend a lot of money on a digital gold and ultimate edition. You don't get anything for it except early release. I love steel book editions etc. Horizon Zero Dawn forbidden west has 3 special physical disc editions. Extremely disappointed.

So far there are no physical disc versions available for GOLD or ULTIMATE Editions.

And EA have so far not mentioned either that there ever will be any physical versions of those editions.

The resellers that are selling like a physical pack of the GOLD or ULTIMATE Editions are in reality just postal mailing you an empty DVD sleeve or similar, in which you have a paper with the redeem code printed for you to download from.

@warcloud7777 Because they're trying to kill physical, they already did to be honest because the game won't play offline so what's the disc good for anyways at that point.

I wonder if it's simply that more people buy digital, it's less fuss to distribute digitally and game sizes are outpacing disk formats anyway (you need multiple disks or have to download most of the game anyway).

I think the last physical game I bought was 2013 and have to say i personally don't miss them. šŸ™‚

    Fully agreed @SofaJockeyUK ,

The only thing I really miss now these days is a 8TB SSD in my PS5!  šŸ˜‚

It's more about the ownership, that's physical games to console gamers, I myself haven't bought a disc on PC in years mostly because it's completely useless when you still have to link it online and stuff like that, I just get my games off GOG mostly and put them on my external hard drives, can play offline anytime without any restrictions. I do agree that a disc for a game like this is completely useless if you can't play in LAN or with bots offline (which hopefully will be added later).

@SofaJockeyUK It is absolutely cost saving, however I will add that I completely understand and respect the collector mentality and feel that in the case of this game, further physical disc options should be offered... I hope EA DICE will consider it.
  • Honestly what else can you expect from EA. I am not buying digital just in case this game is a train wreck. It worries me when they force digital on people so heavily knowing some of them wont get their money back if they want it

  • I also have the same * I'm trying to preorder a dying light 2 ultimate edition, battle field 2042 ultimate edition and horizon forbidden west digital edition on ps5 since the first of January as a physical disk. I can only found a collector edition like wtf I'm not going to pay 300$ for a single * game all website are out of stock like sony gain billions a year also Amazon they can't afford these * games for gamers if not so why u even create games with different edition if u can't even handle it wtf. I hope someone help me with this and thx

  • @ZumesterI also have the same issue i want to preorder dying light 2 ultimate edition, battle field 2042 ultimate edition and horizon forbidden west deluxe edition on ps5 as physical disk but they are all out of stock if u found a shop that have them available plz reply
