@UP_LordPlumberI’ve been saying this here and in Reddit since the game was released.
The only logical reason why they would remove their greatest feature to place Matchmaking is for the implementation of SBMM.
EA loves to copy ideas from other Popular shooters if they think it will make them more money as it does those other shooters, except it never works because BF is a unique shooter outside of the rest with its own loyal fanbase that don’t care for the fluff.
Activision announced that their analyst confirmed that SBMM provides them with “Player retention” which in turn makes them More money.
Now, most of the COD player base is against the current form because it is too strict and makes the matches more frustrating and less fun. In turn they lost a lot of their player base including me for not only the lack of content for the base “bought” portion of the most recent title (MWll) but because of how strict the SBMM is, connection based is no longer king making matches unbearable.
Now, the SBMM isn’t that bad yet in BF but i do feel it from time to time. For instance i’ll have a day where I’m running around like a god with my shots landing on every target while movement feels snappy and responsive with great bullet registration.
Then the next day I’m being put into half or almost done matches on teams that are being destroyed, bullets ain’t registering, I’m being killed left and right struggling to hold on. That is exactly how SBMM is intended to work, it just depends on how strict they implement it.
If they go the COD route, this will be another longtime FPS franchise I retire.
I don’t need a game putting me in matches that run like crap that are out of my region just for the sake of skill instead of better connection.
