What I can't believe is why they can't (at the very least) apply similar caps to Mastery progression. They said the XP cap works on a minute to minute basis so just do something like that with Mastery achievements. Only having so many kills with a particular weapon for example that would count within a minute, hour, day, etc. is better than nothing IMO while they work on a better solution. In either case, it would be something to offer Portal players who have no interest in PvP or prefer their own custom Experiences, those of others, etc.
.....I could care less about the ribbons personally or achievements that are purely for bragging rights, but not being able to unlock weapons, acc's and such for the 2042 assets and being forced to play other modes you don't want to in order to do that will hamper Portal's full potential and interest from the community.
@Kean_1111Ribbons are a mark of your playstyle. And they bring extra XP. If you have 2 Ribbons T2 and 1 Ribbon T1, it's 4k XP. It's nice to take, the highers ranks are kind of grindy, especially if you're capped in XP.
Thanks. Wasn't sure what value they had. XP is still able to be obtained through the gameplay so (for me) they still hold little value. Mastery on the other hand is a gate that can't be bypassed any other way in custom.
I'm just glad my friends and I are more interested in the BF1942, BF3 and BC2 assets for now. ....haven't really messed with BF2042 in our Portal Experiences we have created.
can i earn normal xp in solo now ?
@gDance_TR67XP in solo is still capped. You can earn XP for playing AOW solo/coop, but it will be caped by a XP max/minute rate which is very low. You don't earn player card, mastery beyond MR12 tho.
e.g. A 35 minutes game in Breakthrough will give you around 5/6k XP max +10k if it's your first game of the day. A MP game will give you at least 12k for a full game of 35/40 min, if you suck, but it can be up to 30/40k if you nailed the game.
I just played my first AOW of the day against real players,
I was insulted and called many names by my squad in team chat, who know what they called me due to being censored but by the context of the other words it was pretty harsh.
they started to insult me for the sole reason I was trying to get my tier 1 done with angel and my LCMG, If i didn’t revive I was a *** if I didn’t help shoot I was a ******* if I didn’t stay in the tank, because I’m working on my LCMG mastery I was clueless and and ***.
i don’t want to play with toxic people! I want to just have full progression in solo! To get my tier 1 stuff!
Can someone at EA PLEASE just tell us if you’re at least working on it, any update at all!?
i definitely want this to be fix before voice chats enabled cause I don’t even want to know what’ll be said due to my lack of skill.
I think my biggest issue with everything right now is the lack of communication. The BF communication twitter did a good job of explaining xp in regard to portal compared to featured and AoW. The problem is they didn't say one word about the official solo/coop part of AoW. All we want to know is if solo/coop is like this forever, or if they are looking at giving back a chance for mastery levels and ribbons. I think all of us can live with xp caps, but the grind to level up is so much playing solo the ribbons would be our saving grace.
@DominickB3Honestly, I don’t see them keeping the XP, mastery and Player card capped in All Out. It would be a nonsense. They always said that the issue is XP farms, All-Out is nothing like a farm, it’s the solo mode. If they keep it hard capped, they will lost a lot of players and a lot of credibility
I think the main issue here is that the caps settings are linked to the AI and not to the game mode, so they can’t cap Portal but not All-War right now, because they have to change the code. Well, I hope it’s something like that.
@DominickB3As I see it, the season 1 hasn’t started yet, they already lost 70% of the player base, they need solo/coop/portal players to keep the game alive until season 1 start, and they need them for money purpose, with Battle passes, because they’ll never bring back the 70% back.
The smart move would be to bring back full XP at least on AOW solo before Christmas (before those players may receive another game as a gift), and then allowing Battle Pass progression in AOW solo in January to keep them on the game. A solo player will never buy a Battle Pass, unless you can rank it up in solo.
as a SOLO player i really feel scammed. their position is pretty clear. you won't unlock all the content unless you play PVP. i'm already getting bored of SOLO/CO-OP and playing PORTAL with no progression is pointless. so much entusiasm the first day, now i regret buying this game so much. enjoy my 80€ EA. you won't see another cent from me ever again...

Yep I have had this also, had them capsing saying get out the effing squad and what not. I just turned chat off and ignored it. But still the people in this game seem toxic AF and childlike and look to try insult etc for no reason effing and blinding. All the more to stay out of MP AOW and BT. Just give us solo/coop full xp and progression. Which to be fair we still had no answer on, only Portal
if they really reduce xp in solo i will switch to warzone. When will we get the update ?
FYI... Justin Wiebe (Ripple Effect) just responded to the news from BFComm about progression:
"Some info here about where XP and progression sits currently for portal. But also please know that we hear you and are trying to find a balance between earning progress vs making all progress irrelevant due to farming. Please rest assured, we’re not done yet."

Honestly it feels like they did this to cater to the PvP focused players who complain online about "I earned this, all those others did is play against bots. I can't feel superior if they can unlock the same as me."
Judging by comments on other social medias those players are much more outspoken and outnumber those of us who want to just play against the AI and have the same game as them.
Done with the game, going back to BF 5 and 1. I have some self respect and dont deserve to be treated like a pig. Enjoy my money for ultimate edition. Hope it was worth to burry battlefield franchise with this game....

Yep. One of the main selling points for me at launch instead of waiting was that there was Solo/Coop progression, and Portal. So me and my friends could still have fun while waiting for the game to get into a good state (we knew going in the game was going to be rough). Now after playing a bunch and running into these caps at Mastery 12 on items, theres no point playing solo anymore. Haven't even been able to play portal much when you can't have custom games count for anything. Had some fun playing AOW but the games just not in a good state yet so I've hardly played the past few weeks. And i'm too many hours in or i'd refund it with this bait and switch of actually not having full progression in solo/coop & portal (customs)
