Same problem here. I preordered the gold edition of Battlefield 2042 for Xbox Series X in order to play early. First I couldn't even get passed the title screen and kept getting an error message saying I wasn't connected to the internet even though I was. Two hours of that and I was finally able to get started. At this point everything worked great and I was having a surprising amount of fun with this game. Fast-forward around six hours later and when I signed in again I encountered this bug. Like everyone else on here my mastery badges, images, tags and ribbons were not functioning at all. I restarted the game and then my Xbox. Deleted my save file, restarted my xbox, and then retrieved my save file from the cloud. Uninstalled and then reinstalled the game. Repeated some of those steps out of frustration. It is at this point I contact EA "Help".
I search online for known bug issues for 2042 and find the page here on EA Answers. Notice that my bug is nowhere to be found. I contact support. I politely explain to EA Help in detail my situation. Along with all the methods I have tried above in order to remedy the problem. In their first response they say that no one else has encountered this bug but for me not to worry they will help me out with this problem. I think great...the situation is under control. At this point I think of how odd it is that I'm the only one to encounter this. But I brush it off and continue reading. They then say here, go to this link and try these solutions. Basically the list solutions I already tried but had no luck with. I feel dissatisfied with this answer and go back online and this time search for Battlefield 2042 Mastery Bug. That is what initially brought me to this post. I was happy to see I was not the only one experiencing this but equally as frustrated when seeing the response or lack there of everyone was receiving from EA. I notice that this post was around four days old so there is no possible way no one else has encountered this problem and reported it. I respond to their last message by saying: "I was curious as to why I was told that no one has encountered this problem? I just did a quick google search and found that hundreds of other people have been experiencing this bug. Are you telling me none of them contacted support about this?" Once I did that I was transferred to another support representative. Basically starting the whole process over. The same copy-paste message. I then ask this support rep the same question. No response. Then I'm once again transferred to another support rep. Again the same copy-paste email. Completely ignoring my question again. I then ask for a third time. Again no response. Then out of frustration I add a response telling them how wrong this is and they are ignoring their customers blah, blah, blah. Knowing the whole time it's going to accomplish nothing and I'm basically about to start an argument with a bot. I tried getting a refund from Xbox but they denied it. Now I'm stuck with this this game that doesn't work with fears of it joining the digital graveyard of games I've spent hundreds of dollars on and never play again. This is just wrong.
