PS5 - button mapping headache

Hey guys,

I suspect that most bugs/ issues have already been voiced and the devs are on the case.

But there is one issue I’m having that I wanted to put out there in case any of you can help..

so button mapping on PS5.

Is it me or are there duplicate button assignments in the mapping screen.

I’m finding it hard to work out how to set the button for switching between the primary and secondary weapons. This button comand seems to appear more than once in the options screens.

I have triangle set to switch between primary weapon and sidearm.

I have circle set for melee

X is set for jump

Square is set for reload/ interact

when I call up the attachment cross, it is a nightmare changing attachments.

For example:

with my button mapping above in mind, if I call up the attachment cross and push circle to change ammo attachment, my soldier switched to knife and melee’s - while I still have the attachment cross open.

the same thing happens when I push any of the X, circle, square or triangle buttons.

I think all soldier buttons/ physical actions on screen (in real-time, behind the attachment cross) should be disabled while you have the attachment cross screen open.

But this doesn’t happen, which results in your button presses being acknowledged by both the soldier AND attachment screen at the same time.

Please tell me that the devs know about this because it drives me nuts.

Or is it me doing something wrong?

Many thanks

  • @creepnpeep I was having this problem when I switched the melee and crouch buttons, I just had to hold the button a bit longer to change attachment.
  • @creepnpeep I tried remapping my controller on the PS5 too. Word of warning; Do not turn it back to default controller settings, it crashed the game. It did for me multiple times trying to turn it back to default. Was told to delete the save data. Luckily I hadn't played the game yet so didn't lose anything. Reported it but not even sure if they fixed it. Haven't tried to remap since.
  • I established how to fix this with button mapping.

Ensure that your "soldier buttons" under the controller tab > controller schemes is on custom. Then go ahead and reset your button mapping to default, then re-do your mapping. This will resolve the issue.

  • it should, it is just a formatting error on EA's part, but really not that big of a deal if it works that way. It makes sense, its just not the most convenient.
