Random black screens with 4070ti

Hey Guys

This might of been asked before. but im getting random black screen issues with a 4070 TI running latest drivers. my  game time can be from 20 min to 3 hours before black screen i dont loose video to my other monitor only the gaming monitor

and the only way i can fix my issue is restart the game ? i  upgraded  from a 3060 and didnt have this issue prior to the card upgrade . so im not sure if its a card issue on the 4070 side so hopping you might have a fix before i swap it back to the 3060 and send my card back to get checked out

my new card is a Asus 4070TI oc 12g

my old card is a Asus 3060 12 gig

Thanks guys

  • Nothing to do with your card, that bug has been there since launch, but never has been as bad as season 6, there's an extensive ticket in the tech board

Well, they need to supply us with a freaking Video card that works.  I did not spend all this money on a NVIDA Geforce 4700Ti 32 gb to NOT be able to work, to play a game, to watch videos, to watch youtube, to watch anime, NOTHING...........Since 01/28/24 when I purchased my new pc with what I thought was a good video card.  FU nvideo...tired of this *.

@sk1lld I’m tempted to use that just on general principle lol. I’m assuming you’ve used it, will it wipe the NVidia Control Panel settings? I have messed with those a lot to get the most out of 2042 and would hate to have to start over.

Yes, have used this in your case it will wipe all CP settings. It's mostly used when changing video cards but works with instability too. Had a case in the past with instability and used DDU, to my surprise my previous video card showed even though I uninstalled the driver for it after changing out the card, after using DDU the instability was gone.

The tool was posted on NVidias web site until recently.

@sk1lld I’ve always done a clean install and don’t use their Geforce Experience, but I’ve lost track how many updates I’ve installed manually on my 3060ti. @Cashie1962, do you use GEFE?

Are both your monitors plugged into the card? Is there anyway you maybe plugged your main monitor into the motherboard and not your card? If 2042 is black screening, and I get that too very occasionally, or random CTD since S7.2 came out, ita not not to assume it’s the game and not your card. Nice upgrade BTW, livin the dream man!

If you watch the video, it explains why you would want to DDU much better than I can. As explained even if you use clean install "Mostly placebo" you can end up with driver corruption. I don't use it every time I change drivers but at the first sign of instability I will use it.
