Re: 30mm from Bolte does less damage to infantry than 9mm from firearm.

Can some developer explain this reasoning to me? Thanks.

I am not a developer, but as someone who abused the hell out of the Bolte, I can tell you that it was absolute gaming cancer before the nerf. Now you actually have to have a good driver and gunner working together to get your kills, which you still can.

Before yeah I agree it was devastating but now it's utterly underwhelming the purpose of battlefield vehicles is to feel powerful and useful but now it's more of a transport than anything. It's underpowered and is destroyed relatively easy. Makes you not want to use them as all since you blown up quickly.

What I recommend is buffing the damage of the vehicle weapons such as the minigun, 30mm, 40mm, and 57mm, but small increments to be actually effective towards infantry but not overwhelming either. For example the minigun spreads way to much and it's lack of damage makes it more of a closeup weapon but then you make yourself vulnerable and quickly get destroyed by infantry.

Like the 30mm on the choppers are just bad against infantry now, it takes a whole burst of the gun just to kill one infantry and if you are lucky and they closely clustered together like 3m within each other you may get multiple kills. That is if your pilot is steady and not moving to line your shots but then you are vulnerable and the overheats to quickly for a good support weapon either.

Overall at lot of vehicle weapons need another rebalancing not saying make then overwhelming powerful but more efficient since there is way Kreme infantry to destroy you while the vehicle is underarmoed to survive and the weapons are are not strictly strictly enough to get a flew kills before getting completely wrecked by infantry.

@filthy_vegans Not really, I go solo and never use the gun. In fact, I try to avoid teammates jumping in as they only give away my position.

The other day I got an 8x kill by driving through a group of enemies, and dropping a grenade cluster. I’ve racked up 40 kills in a single round with the current Bolte solo.
  • You want underwhelming? Try the 30mm pilot cannon on the havoc. Like lobbing wet rolls of toilet paper.

the moment you lose a loved one from the big C is the moment you'll grow TF up and stop using it casually to refer to a state of a video game.  I hope you never have to experience that, but I also hope you stop casually doing that.  "the most OP vehicle" "absolute nightmare" "horrendously balanced".  English language has a lot of words to offer.

No one cares how good you think you are.

It does, and I know a lot more of them than you. I've lost several family members to cancer. I also appreciate the power of metaphor.

The game as a whole is completely unbalanced. Just like how all 30mm cannons on all vehicles and jets/choppers don't do the same damage, which doesn't make any sense. It's a 30mm cannon!! They should have the same damage as any other 30mm cannon on any vehicle!!

Just seems like they're (EA Dice) nerfing everything which causes more balance issues. Even tank shells are probably gonna be nerfed at some point somehow because some player will complain about getting killed instantly by them. Just like how the 57mm cannon on the wildcat got nerfed, which was a dumb decision.

  • Had a run with my recon equipped with 30mm cannon today and I have to agree with the op in that it is rather weird that it takes several direct hits with such a gun to get a kill. I also agree that the bolte was absolutely op before the nerf and I still frequently find myself cursing the vehicle for being toxic as I get killed by it. It is far to many of them. It’s supposed to be transport, not tank. Keep the guns, but remove the armor and put in some passenger seats like the recon has. Or just classify it as a tank.

@Arfan76 It makes absolute sense when you consider that this is a game. For example, a 30mm on a jet fires at around 700RPM and is carried by the fastest vehicle in the game. It therefore has to be adjusted around those facts.

Re: Tank Shells. STAFF and MPAT are pretty well balanced but HEAT needs a boost in damage to make it equal to MPAT against all vehicles except the MBT and MAV.

The 57mm was absolutely in need of adjustment - statistically it totally outclassed the 40mm and there was no reason to use it instead. Combined with the Anti tank missile you had a ridiculously overpowered platform that could dominate virtually any tank save for one using STAFF on an open field map. It was also superb against infantry too - truly a weapon with no drawbacks.

And while the 57mm did take a big drop in splash damage it actually got a boost to its direct damage when the bug preventing splash damage from being delivered on direct hits was fixed in update two. This makes it so its a OHK against everyone but Dozer with a direct hit.

ALL of the vehicle balance changes so far have been deserved and have been pretty measured in terms of execution. Doesn't mean that will be the case moving forward but at least so far I can say I'm happy with what I've seen.
