Re: BF 2042 and Flight Controllers...

@X3D-Phantom I think there's been a miscommunication. I am not using joy2key. I am using Steam where it has mapped my joystick as a Playstation controller (360 controller works too).

If you're using Joy2key or Logitech Profiler to map your axis etc to key presses, then you're not doing it as I've done it, instead you're using it as a keyboard. And that's not much good IMHO, like you said.

I've already explained how to do it a few times in this and other threads, so here's the link to where I've explained it further. As you can see in the comments, another person was using joy2key and ended up using a different solution instead.

  • @KuirielThanks man, this is so helpful. You've no idea (well probably you do, lol) how infuriating it is for a BF veteran jet pilot unable to use his trusty joystick..

How is the joystick working for you now? Does it feel smooth and similar to previous BF games? :-)

@X3D-PhantomNobody who wants to use Joystick will ever use joy2key ... just forget Joy2Key

Again Joy2Key is not good solution at all ... its nonsense to mention that solution any more.

HidHide + Xoutput for use with Origin version of bf2042  is perfect solution for me x52 and Logitech Wingman Extreme 3d

  • @YUG-Danilo Alright, thanks. I'm using the steam version, so I'm going to try mapping it as a ps4 controller instead, hopefully that will work out nicely

@X3D-Phantom Yes. Smooth and normal. In an ideal world I would have hidhide and x360 working perfectly to create rumble in my joystick like I could with GTA but I had already refunded the origin copy as I can't afford it on both steam and origin. Plus I had spent several days trying to figure it out before realising that bf2042 had a hard time writing to its own profile settings and had conflicts there if you don't change everything besides plane to custom and clear it, while control schemes and key bindings for plane you need to leave at default in game. It's been frustrating and put me off, today is official opening day but I'm just going to bed. I can't play with all my friends or join on them mid match because of this terrible system re squads, no server browser etc. Can't save a server I selt up in portal either. The game fights me trying to like it.

    Sigh.

At least flying feels good on the rare occasion I can get into one where I'm not spawn camped immediately by a floating enemy. I miss static spawns and stationary aa which punished them for camping.
  • @Kuiriel So i got it working, thanks for the great guide. I feel like either the settings ingame for sensitivity etc doesn't affect the settings on the joystick, or the flying in bf2042 is just really really poorly designed. The zoomed in sensisitivity on the jets goes through the roof for me, and I can't find a good way to adjust it. You got any ideas?

@X3D-Phantom Yes. For one, I make sure that all settings between mouse and controller are identical, there is an identified issue where these conflict for aim. If you're using an ultra wide screen monitor the coefficient thing at 133 is better at 178. Remember FOV here is vertical not horizontal so the default is better than getting mad fish eye. You can also change specific zoom sensitivity if you want though I haven't played with that yet.

Here are my controller and mouse related settings:

  • @Kuiriel Thanks again. It feels better using these settings. I still have a lot of complaints however, but I think they're mostly design issues, hehe. Like i feel the pitch goes from 20-30% to 100% almost instantly for some reason. When the condensation appears along the topside of the wing, the pitch is suddenly super hard. Makes it difficult to aim properly. Do you have this issue also?

@X3D-Phantom I didn't think I did. Does it still happen with keyboard for comparison? Could be the acceleration setting regarding how much input is required as you get further from centre, could also be steam dead zone on controller. Go into steam controller settings and see if it's pitching that rapidly there too. Make sure you have some dead zone still because if there is any axis input controls are in gamepad mode and the mouse cursor disappears making it hard to select things.

@X3D-Phantom I noticed the pitch thing feeling a bit too strong too, might actually be about a setting I changed to match mouse settings. Try lowering controller vertical ratio? I have to try it yet myself, haven't been back to it for a while.
