    @CantGetRight That's crazy. EA should have a clean up script that runs to at least remove that large useless file. That's just shoddy or lazy work. At least COD Modern Warfare after a year provided a modification option to uninstall the game components that you don't want like campaign, certain modes, etc. to save you drive space. From the link you sent it looks like standard practice with EA to feel free to waste your HD space. Thanks

    @MurfOriginal @CantGetRight 

    You can try the following to remove the file without causing an issue: 

    Rename  BF2042Trial.exe to BF2042Trial.exe.old and continue to launch and play the game in your usual manner.

    Reboot and retry playing to be sure all is well and if it is, you can delete the file.
