Re: False positive bans

I've had a response from my second appeal now which was this:

Hello,

We have received your most recent correspondence expressing concerns about the action that was taken on your account.

After thoroughly investigating your account and concern, we again found that we actioned your account correctly after it was found to have violated our User Agreement.

Due to this violation, we will not remove the sanction that was applied to your account.

We will not share any details about our detection methods, as such information could be used to bypass our anti-cheat measures.

You can review the full User Agreement at http://tos.ea.com/legalapp/WEBTERMS/US/en/PC/

After completing two full investigations into your complaint, we consider this matter closed.

Thank you,

EA Terms of Service

At this point I am giving up hope. I still have no idea why I was banned, or how I could avoid this from happening again, which means I cannot bring myself to start again on a new account.

To all those people who are, for some reason, completely certain that myself and others did something to deserve a ban, I can only hope that you don't suffer the same fate. I've been a gamer for the past 20 years, and playing online shooters for a good portion of that, I have never been banned from anything, or cheated on any online game.

I bought new PC components and did a fresh OS install for Battlefield 2042, the software and games that I had installed were extremely limited and none of it should have triggered a ban. I do use a corsair case, PSU and CPU cooler, but I do not use iCUE as I couldn't care less about RGB.

I hope that EA / DICE do read these posts and decide to look into their anti-cheat settings to figure out what has gone wrong. If these bans are for "exploiting" the buggy, glitchy mess of a game that they have released, then maybe they should focus more on giving paying customers a better product, rather than banning people for finding their many flaws in game and map design.

I am both disgusted and appalled by the way in which this situation has been handled, and to the state in which this AAA game has been released.

    EA is accusing me of the fowling

    We have confirmed that your account was involved in cheating. Because of this, we will not remove the sanction on your account.

    You break our rules(https://www.ea.com/terms-of-service#section6) if you:
    •  1 use software that interferes with or disrupts an EA Service or another user’s account.
    • 2 use undocumented features, exploits or cheats in-game that disrupts an EA Service or another user’s account.
    •  3 use software or cheats that disconnects other users from the EA servers.

    First, i do not have the knowledge to know which software is interfering with EA services, they should inform us before buying the game which software is incompatible.

    Second, what are undocumented features exploits or cheats in-game, i have only heard of hacking, if exploits mean playing the game in co-op with bots to level up the weapons because the game was so bad in multiplayer that leveling up was such a trauma and if doing this is reason to ban me forever from a game which i paid 59.99 euros that is the equivalent of 10% of the minimum wage in my country and coming from a Company that sells game that are full of bugs and not finished and that in previous releases they left players with servers full of true HACKERS and as i have witnessed don't disrupt EA services, I call THIS HYPOCRISY and lack of Moral.

    What type of system is this, that just bans you forever with no real evidence t, i just played the game, PERIOD, it was their; CO-OP MODE with bots.

    Third, I  don't cheat, i was trying to level up in co-op with bots that alone is a prove.

    EA is incompetent because it is far easier to just ban than to have a system that differentiates true cheaters from players who take advantage of the bad design of maps, they should just fix the bugs and glitches and then penalize players by downgrading the XP. It's totally unfair to deny me access to the game, i did it because it was there, EA gave us that possibility.

    In conclusion, i don't have money or time to sue EA, but i have my opinion to give anyone who ask me about this game and EA, and most of all i have my kids that are gamers starting to be adults and they will never buy another EA game, this company is one of the big problems with the game industry.

    @dopamind I have a question. When you were banned, were you banned on December 3rd at 17:45 UTC?

    If yes, after update 3, whenever you played you first match after the update, were you unable to use your mouse to turn?

    I’m beginning to think that people who had this bug after the update 3 was released, and the way to fix it was to delete a file from the game files itself, is the reason we were banned. I know for sure I had the bug. I know for sure I deleted a file to fix it. Maybe the EAC/Game thought I was manipulating the games file in order to cheat.

    If anyone else has had this bug, and was banned, please let me know. I’d love to know if maybe this could’ve been the reason.

    @RevyngeV2 I had the mouse issue after the update but I didn't delete any files. I fixed it by restoring the controls under on foot - movement to default. After I got it working logged off and went to bed.

    @RevyngeV2
    That definitely isn't the issue with mine, I hadn't played the game in about a week prior to being banned.
    First time for a week, that I launched the game, was when I got the email, to check if it was a legitimate one, I honestly thought it was a hoax.
    I was actually waiting for the patches and fixes so that I could enjoy the game.

    @xSniper1982 Hmmm. All right then. Just trying to figure out what’s happened. Glad to know it wasn’t that.

    I wanna state this now, I believe every single person on this forum has been wrongfully banned and are innocent. As I am innocent as well. Hopefully they figure this out so we can continue to play the game!

    @RevyngeV2 Certainly not a reason. I have altered the settings file to fix this problem to me (removed the ConceptYaw lines to reset it to defaults) and no issues with that. After all, removing the file was an official recommendation how to fix the problem.

    @Anaghya That is very true about the official. But with dice and ea, you just never know.

    All I’m trying to do is nix this from every angle I can think of. Oh well. Guess we’ll just have to wait until to EA gets it sorted. Thanks for the responses!
  • @RevyngeV2 It seems you have already concluded that removing the files for the mouse fix was not the problem, but I'll add to that by letting you know that I did not do this and was still banned.

    My best bet is it was the solo & co-op mode farming after update 3, which I did do. I thought that I better take advantage of it while it was there, expecting it to get patched and they perma banned me for it.

    @UP_MetalGear All right then. Must be it as I did play a solo coop game and killed some bots as well.

    Funny. So many innocent people being banned for something that’s a feature and a selling point for the game..

    @UP_MetalGear

    I'm pretty sure they implemented a line or two into their version of EAC that reads along the lines of;

    IF
    (Player) kills > X number of AI
    OR
    (Player) achieves Y number of unlocks
    in Z amount of time/matches
    THEN
    Flag/Ban

    To me it's the only thing that makes sense. It's a bit of code placed in that flags certain activities, it could have been done with the intention of flagging the Bot Farmers, which is great.
    But their values could have been too broad and picked up legitimate players just using the Solo/Coop mode to practice.

    But unless they tell us WHAT we were flagged for, we'll never be able to work it out.

    I'm also pretty certain that it was something they did PRIOR to Update 3, or they set it to retroactively check players values.
    As I have stated previously I didn't play the game for about a week leading up to the 3rd Dec (The date of my ban).

  • @xSniper1982 I got the ban on the same time as most people here i think, but i havent played the game since 17th of november and i have played for less then 1 hour in total.

    I really don't know what caused this ban but jeez. this is so sad and the stubbornness from EA isn't helping at all.

    Glad i refunded the game anyways still, i'd like to see this ban removed from my account.

    Hello,

    We received your latest message regarding the action taken on your account. We have performed all investigations possible on this issue and will not reverse the decision.

    Please do not expect further responses on this matter.

    Thank you,

    Is there not a single person in the ToS department willing to step up and work with us users/customers on these issues. We have been more than compliant with these dispute claims but no one that reviewed my case asked for anything from me or even acknowledged me as another person. We're just another account to them.

    @ItsOnlyM3-NL
    That's kind of the thing for me too.
    I don't have any intention of playing the game now, not after the way they've treated people and handle this situation.
    But at the very least, I want them to fix the issue, and remove the ban from my account.
    I wish I'd never come back to the franchise, it's been such a horrendous experience.

    @tyler2451
    Honestly, at this point, I'm thinking the responses are fully automated and no one is actually reviewing them.

    They don't ask for further information, they don't address any concerns that were raised in their response, it's just the same 3 emails sent to everyone at each stage of the process.
    First Dispute, send mail A
    Second Dispute, send mail B
    Third Dispute, send mail C ,and then, Ignore all further Disputes from this User.

    @xSniper1982 If people were getting banned for farming AI, then where are all the banned console players?

    I haven't heard of a single one. On top of that damn near everyone I know have been using the Kaleidoscope/SOLO exploit to level up guns to mastery 12. People get upwards of 400 kills at the last objective like that, and I still haven't heard of anyone getting banned for it.

    @BizzyVaping

    Then what do you suggest it might be from?
    Like I've said, I don't run 3rd party software, I don't exploit or cheat, at the time I hadn't even been playing the game.

    Yet my account was still flagged and banned.

    How does someone who is not cheating/exploiting or doing anything against ToS getting banned?

    Just because some people have been doing it and not getting flagged, doesn't mean that nobody is getting flagged.

    If anything that frustrates me even more.
    Knowing that there are people who have been actively bot farming/exploiting etc, who are still happily playing on their accounts, whilst my completely legitimate account gets banned.

    @xSniper1982I obviously don't know, but I will say that it almost certainly isn't from farming AI.

    If it was half the community on both PC and console would have been banned by now.

    The problem only seem to effect PC players though. That alone should be enough proof that is isn't farming related as people have been doing that on all platforms. (There hasn't been a single report anywhere of any console only users getting banned)
