It has been more prevalent for me in recent days too, we really need some feedback on this as to what is being done to resolve this major issue. - sk1lld3 years agoLegend
Anybody knows if EA/DICE has found the issue yet?
NVM, I just checked the other thread saw they are still looking into it!

I have concluded that this issue is the single greatest problem with this product.
Regardless of what others say, the experience I have is that the code favors xbox players and they can see/fire on me before it even registers in my view. Additionally, some PC players have found a way to survive and get obscene numbers of kills without hardly any deaths. It simply is not possible to get into the thick of the fight and never suffer a death, so its not like they can be stealthy and lurk on the outskirts of the fight. You can't get enough kills as fast as they do. I am constantly picked off by multiple opponents from 3 directions, helis, tanks, spawning right in front of the enemy, etc. How is it these same people perform at the same exact level in every single game I see them in. And yes, I know them by name.
No need to troll me and tell me I don't know how to play and they are just better than everyone, etc ect. Save it. I have well over 2000 hours in this mess and it's safe to say a pattern has been established.

They will never find it

Since the last update, console players have picked me off quickly as well. They are always low-level ones at that. I think the auto-aim mechanic is tuned too high for them or they are using advanced controller techniques(Cronus). Also as a player with an insane amount of hours in the game, there is a noticeable difference in the amount of 'John Wick' players that seem to not die and rack up a lot of kills since the last update and the popularity increased in the game.

Almost unplayable at times atm feels like the worst days of Battlefield 3, you either are a god and can’t die or you are dead before you see the enemies

I love what feels like being 1 shot by someone I cant see. Makes me want to punch the screen

Or say words like "golly gosh", 😁
- TwentyValve3 years agoNew Veteran@hollamf its not auto aim or aim assist or cheating. its plain old lag. but that lag is caused by bad netcode and lag comp.
I'm on console and the majority of my WTF deaths are from PC players. do I think they are cheating, no. its lag.
the "John Wick" players are ones that have lag, the server doesn't know where they are most of the time. they are usually the ones that run and hop/jump constantly. they are exploiting the horrible netcode. - sk1lld3 years agoLegend
If they think I'll buy the next Battlefield game with this kind of customer service their sorely mistaken.

Even with bots, I still have TTK issues. In this firefight, I fired 67 times, had 62 Client hits but only 33 at the server? My LAT is 31ms with 13ms TN (why have TN with bots?), and no packet loss. So what is the issue, how can they not know what is causing this?
To me, it seems like the server tick rate of 45Hz has a lot to do with it. Why not add a server option is Portal for 30 and 60Hz server tick rates? Then use that data to see which one performs better. Then use that one in AOW. - TwentyValve3 years agoNew Veteran@Adamonic they need to bring back those game fix servers they used in BF4 (or BF3, can't remember exactly) to test patches with actual players to see what is actually wrong, and what actually fixes the issues.
I agree, the servers are a portion of the issue. - RMEChief3 years agoLegend@TwentyValve CTE - Community Test Environment. Smart move back then.
Yes, partly the servers, but also partly EA. Only that EA and Dice no longer try to change something here. The games are sold and nobody cares about anything else anymore. money is booked. Just last week where you had to permanently change the PW because something went wrong at EA. And the hotline was a help that could have been saved. The hitreg has always been bad. Vouzou Jumps and all other glitches as well. Apart from all the cheats. I no longer trust 75% of the players. It's too easy to play with macros, no recoil etc. Personally, it pisses me off when you cheat in multiplayer. In the single player the idiots should do what they want. I do not care.

Today is this game extremely unplayable. I don't understand why some day game works fine and all other it hard somebody kill. Do you something changing DICE on servers? What you doing?

After much testing I finally understand exactly what 'time nudge' is and what exactly it does. It's the key to manipulating the lag compensation algorithm and is what causes some players to have a faster reaction time than others.
'Time Nudge' is the interpolation buffer for player movement. I recently figured out there's a server-side buffer as well as a client-side buffer. Previously I was only aware of the client-side buffer.
Manipulating the server-side buffer is the key to giving yourself a reaction time advantage over other players in the server. You do this by causing the UDP packets you're sending to the server to be out-of-order.
Since packets the server is receiving from you are out-of-order, the server has to increase it's 'time nudge' buffer so it can buffer multiple UDP packets in order to rearrange the packets into the right order.
Naturally this causes the server to delay processing your packets which in turn causes the server to delay sending updates about your player movement to everyone else. This is why some players seems to always see you first and react faster.
What's the easiest way to increase server-side 'time nudge'? Playing on wifi is the easiest way, because wifi causes your ping time to fluctuate which causes packets to reach the server out-of-order instead of in-order.
Q: What connection type do most console players play on?
A: Wifi
So this explains why console players seem to have an advantage over PC players who are using wired ethernet. It's actually a disadvantage to have a completely stable connection.
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@OskooI_007 You always share good feedback and theories. Let me run this past you: PC player, 5800x, 3060ti, 32 gb of 3600mhz (unlocked) RAM. If I have a TN below 10, game is smooth with fast movement and decent hit reg. 20 and above (and I’ve had 450!) and movement is like quicksand, and I’m shooting behind every target. CMs say TN is client side, so it’s my computer. I play wired, and it’s fibre to my house. Avg 170mbs up or down on speed test. How does this info fit into your theory?
- OskooI_0073 years agoLegend
@ATFGunr I don't own a copy of 2042 so I can't test if the TN you see is for the client-side TN buffer or for the server-side buffer.
All the testing I've done is in Battlefield 1. 'Time nudge' is called 'extrapolation offset' in BF1 but they're both the same thing. DICE just named it.BF1's netgraph shows the client-side 'extrapolation offset' buffer but doesn't show the server-side buffer.
You don't want the client-side 'time nudge' buffer to go high because that delays what you see on your screen.
You want the server-side 'time nudge buffer' to go high so you're delaying your movements on other people's screens. That way you can pop around corners and shoot them before they have a chance to react.
- OskooI_0073 years agoLegend@ATFGunr I'll also add if TN is going really high, like above 50ms, it's most likely due to packet loss.
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@OskooI_007 And oddly the packet loss alert doesn’t come on. Some games I have none. Others I have some, and still others lots. Hi TN and hi ALAT combines and I’ll die in a single packet. Delta ticket 99+ ends with dead Gunr. The TTK / TTD seems ok when the TN is under 10 and ALAT is within 7-8 of my LAT.

A few weeks now i'm playing with crossplay off.
Altho the gameplay improved quit a bit, those major issues are still there. 1 out of 3 rounds, it dropped drastically.
I can look positive on it and say: Hey...better some then nothing, but no...it's not gonna be like that for me.
Due the low player base in general and specialy with those who are playing with crossplay off, it hard to find a decent game.
And i like these MAJOR issues to be fixed a.s.a.p. so playing with crossplay on won't be an extra battle of it's own again.
But i know...The chance of me being picked up by aliens and go where no one has gone before is much bigger.
- doubleome3 years agoSeasoned Ace
Twice today near the start of the round very first target to fire at it just doesn't register a single bullet like the enemy isn't even there.
Come to think of it in these situations I think the enemy name/healthbar don’t show up either
- GrizzGolf3 years agoSeasoned Ace
I doubt we will ever get this corrected
