Not without rental servers and community tools.
It was the community that made BF, BF4 was the last game where that was possible.

BF4 remastered would be a waste of money and resources because you can still go play it.
- @NazT55 I have to agree. You can still play most of the Frostbite games, and BF4 has a lot of people still playing.
- @NazT55 No it wouldn’t and don’t play cause console servers r pretty much empty
- @FaTaL_DReaMS1 If I had to remaster a Battelfield game, it would be BF2142. Titan mode must return, and since they are likely going back to modern times with the next BF, it would be unique.
@FaTaL_DReaMS1Not on Playstation. There's at least 10 full servers running, including a couple with DLC maps. At least in the US anyway.
- @ArchAngeL-PCX I’m just saying they had a formula that worked
- @sk1lld rental servers and a server browser are a must!
- NazT553 years agoSeasoned Ace@ArchAngeL-PCX I agree. They could do a Bf2/2142 remaster.
- @NazT55 that would be great! I miss those old PC games.

- NazT553 years agoSeasoned Ace@ArchAngeL-PCX I do too. I was just reading the different topics over at BF2s forums from back in the day. I play BF2 every now and then but it is just not the same as it was back in 2005.
Team auto balance is a must. I have had to quit every game but 2 because losing is not fun nor my thing
- @NazT55 Yeah I agree. Its not the same. A totally different era of shooters and style. I would play it but I haven't wanted to go through the effort of setting up to use the fan servers. I just end up going back to BF4 where I can play Dragon Valley or Gulf of Oman.
Which brings me to a point. What if they started importing BF2 maps into 2042 like the Back to Karkand DLC they did for BF3? I think that could turn things around. - NazT553 years agoSeasoned Ace@ArchAngeL-PCX I think that would be awesome and was anticipating that is what they would do with Portal but was quickly let down after S1 when they pretty much abandoned Portal.
- @ArchAngeL-PCX Not enough still need weapon restrictions for classes and need to change a few “heroes” to different classes

I feel like it's a great game to play and enjoy. I certainly have a great time in all aspects of the game right now.
Mind you I have T1 on ALOT of the primary weapons, and I think I have 4 vehicles T1. Currently working on getting T1 for MBTs with over 1k with each tank. So I know each corner of gameplay right now.
Saying this game "is not a battlefield" is just wrong. Sure, there have been a lot of changes (Not good ones) like specialists. But I think Dice managed to find a great middle-ground with classes and specialists. Now I'm not saying that it's perfect and the next game should also include a specialist system. All I'm saying is that given the mess we had at launch, Dice did a phenomenal job at getting everything work together in a more or less acceptable manner.
For me this game certainly feels like Battlefield in terms of immersion and engagement. Its way ahead of BF5 in that sense. All BF5 had was a good gunplay and nothing else. Balance was awful, vehicles were awful and not properly balanced. Some classes were OP, others underpowered etc
BF1 had an amazing atmosphere and immersion but lacked skill ceiling and overall gunplay. Looked great, but was way too casual for my taste with boring weapons and insanely overpowered vehicles.
BF2042 found a great balance now between classes, vehicles, and infantry/vehicles.
- Gunplay feels great
- Vehicles finally feel viable after 3.2 and latest Lis nerf. (Please Dice keep it this way.)
- Gameplay flow is quite nice. Some maps still need a bit of work, but overall it feels great.
- Audio is very immersive
- Cosmetics look good. Yes, it's an important point for some, including myself.
And if want to ignore everything and still blindly hate it. wel....
- @FaTaL_DReaMS1 Nope. Restrictions aren't BF anymore. Bad idea.
No it won't be, because it is not designed to be a real battlefield. This game is a clone of EFT, Warzone and Apex Legends. Just trends, without a soul. The core is rotten and Dice won't be able to fix that, because everything is worse than in its predecessor, maybe except for the setting.

yea i noticed that the other night. you talked a bunch of smack in text chat then bailed on the game after you lost your helo. not hard to have a good W/L record when you quit any game that you can't ride on coat tails to win
Which Battlefield game was it where there were random people (not clans or groups of friends) on servers all playing the classes correctly? This has never happened.
- @Psubond I don’t care if I die in a vehicle it’s I care about winning I can be top of the board but no point if losing so I’d rather quit then be loser

@Skill4Reel The class system was never that, people didn't purposely join games and play 'classes' and did the 'teamwork' but everything was designed around the idea that if you were to embrace the system it could make you a better player and had a certain satisfaction level. It used to be that if you were to attack helo and you were solo vs a attack helo of 2 GG you are most likely losing that.
But they designed so much in 2042 that you can ignore all that and still be nearly as effective it really doesn't matter anymore how you play. I like Zain, I was always a fan of the airburst in 2142 but Zain atm has a auto heal after killing someone, you get 1🏈 med pens, you can have C5 and you have a 'grenade' launcher.... it's just too much same with how many other specialists are designed.
Hell they are even supposedly buffing the health regen after taking damage instead of just adding back the system where you can resupply health/ammo from support classes by pressing a button near them..... elegant system. These things are the 'class' system and 'teamplay' elements that are enough to make it a Battlefield game imo, but it has to be the core of every design decision they make.
Just see it as the 'class' system and 'teamplay' as an subconscious thing about the game not something everyone HAS to consciously be aware of. If designed well it happens organicly.
Atleast in my years of Battlefield is what I feel the Battlefield DNA is about.

i'd rather lose than be a habitual quitter. no honor in quitting and that makes the victories you do get empty and meaningless
