Re: Our Next Update, and this weeks Weekly Mission

@CantGetRight Didn't you say you don't even care about the scoreboard? Given that it doesn't look like the update has much else...what's to look forward to?

@edgecrusherO0 I don't care about the scoreboard but I know many of you all are looking forward to having it. I would rather be optimistic than be all negative nelly.

@CantGetRight What's there to be optimistic about, though? DICE needs to give us a reason for optimism and, "a small range of additional fixes" for a patch 4 months post-launch for a fairly busted game ain't it.

Damn, figured I'd take a break from forums and BF2042 news and hope they would start turning things around but jeezes... its just getting worse ☹️

@CantGetRight Im deeply sorry but I just can’t resist anymore.

    [CM - removed]

The puplisher is responsible to keep its audience happy and wealthy, not the other way arround.

a small range of bugfixes after 2 months is laughable, what the hell are they doing ?
Clearly theyr focus is defenitely not BF2042 and this 3 months into it.

Negative Nelly… this is like apologizing to a guy who just demolished your face for … reasons and you are happy about it.

I just don’t know what to do anymore in this game, everything I wanted I allready earned 150 hours into the game, now I am at almost 400 hours and it gets boring as *.

Normaly I would start to abuse vehicles but I just can’t be bothered while this idiotic C5 drones are around.

  • @Bolvard No need to apologize but geez it is a * video game! There is more to life than to go around worrying and getting your panties in a wad about a * video game!

@CantGetRight "Stop being upset because the product you paid for is trash and the company that made it is showing no desire to fix it."

I mean the $90 I shelled out for the gold edition isn't breaking my bank and I've got plenty of other games to play. I guess we shouldn't hold developers accountable/responsible for misleading consumers, delivering a half-finished product, and then making no apparent effort to fix said product and deliver they game they marketed.

Some consumers are fine being screwed over, which you appear to be. I'd like to see DICE fix BF2042 and actually show they care about the game, because this is probably the last title I'm purchasing from them for a long, long, long time.

@CantGetRight Yeah you are right but that’s not the point.

You and everyone else PAYED for this.
I payed 100€ for a game that has 50% of an BF4 dlc as content.

and the so called live service is nonexistant at this moment.
Now i read more and more about that they "anthem“ this game.
I don’t know what it means but my guess is that it means they do the legaly minimal amount of effort and then just end support for it.

I’ve seen this in other games too… but after 2 years at best and when all content is out.
They do it freaking 3 months after launch.
  • @Bolvard "Antheming" the game means it gets abandoned. BW stuck with Anthem for a while after it's dreadful launch and tried to fix it, but it became clear that the game needed a top-to-bottom overhaul. So the team spend quite a bit of time working on new design docs to pitch EA on the budget needed for a proper reboot and a lot of it looked pretty great...but EA said no. Which was sad, but made sense given the enormous investment they'd already made and the terrible launch/reputation the game earned.

I never thought it was a possibility for 2042, but now that we're 3 months into the year and we're still getting a massive amount of silence about what the team is working on or what's happening for 2042, I'm increasingly thinking this is a possibility. Deliver the minimum-required content to meet their obligations as cheaply as possible and move on to the next installment.
  • @BolvardYou know I was fine with you all posting your opinions as everyone is entitled to until you called me out. As I will also post mine. What is funny is I have seen yall's types of posts ever since BF2. OMG BF is dead, I am not buying another BF game again, BF is trash now, EA/DICE is dead to me. The great thing is I won't be seeing you all post here next BF game as you won't be purchasing it. But then again it will all start over again with BF is trash now, etc.

@CantGetRight Yo, there hasn't been a BF game that sold this poorly and had this many problems. Maybe Hardline, but that's hardly a positive comparison for 2042.

@CantGetRight Well I had no problems in BF3 and BF4 becouse they actually delivered.
(apart from the buggy state from BF4 which was fixed and constantly improved almost every 2 weeks)

But yes, I won’t buy the next bf installment.
EA scammed me for the last time.

The only game I’m looking forward to is the Deadspace remaster and then I can happily uninstall origin.

@CantGetRight Neither sold as poorly as BF2042 by all accounts, and those problems were far more technical in nature than a product of fundamentally flawed design.

So I have no clue what you're talking about.

"We'll also have a small range of additional fixes live as part of the game update which will be detailed in our Update Notes next week."

small range? The community has literally been crying out since this game launched 4 months ago and have over 3.5k threads about bugs in this game, with MAJOR bugs still outstanding to be fixed. We've waited 2 months since the last update, there had better be some substantial fixes...

Half of the community is unable to play because of dwindling player numbers in their regions.

Why? Because people are over the games infuriating bugs and balances. The only people still playing are vehicle mains who are just farming literal AI Bots now.

I've been playing BF since the very start, BF1942, and this is the first game in the franchise i've given up this fast on.

I stopped playing weeks ago because of FOUR HOUR MATCHMAKING TIMES

I stopped playing weeks ago because of RIDICULOUS BOLTE SPAM

I stopped playing weeks ago because of BROKEN ADS

I stopped playing weeks ago because of BORISTURRETSPAM

I stopped playing weeks ago because of PKPMETA

The list goes on for pages and pages from the Bug Thread, and the problems are compounding.

Steam Stats have a current playerbase of 1550, and a 24 hour peak of 2000. Hell, even on Sunday, the busiest day of the week for BF2042, it didnt even hit 2500 peak on Steam.

Battlefield V is now consistantly more than 1000% the playerbase of 2042.

This is a critical time for the game, not a time to be releasing a "small range of fixes" that the few players who remain have been waiting months for.

The Scoreboard is a nice feature, but it pales in comparison right now to bugs, balances, the cartoonish asthetic, and the way the game plays overall.

    Where is the urgency???

Battlefield apparently sold over 4.2m copies in the first week...at an average of $100 per copy thats almost half a billion in sales in 1 week alone.

Let alone the game is still for sale full price with all the advertising in place on every platform saying how amazing it is WHEN YOU CANNOT FIND A GAME.

There must be about a billion dollars in revenue already from this game.

The player base deserves better than a "small range of fixes"

  • @JarskyPlaysFYI - it didn't sell 4 million copies. Tom corrected his earlier post and that was just the number of players that played the game at that point, including via EA Access or whatever and folks that refunded. EA made it clear that the game didn't meet their sales expectations.

But otherwise yes, there seems to be no urgency at DICE to fix their busted game. It seems like they just want to move on from it and forget it happened.

  • @tropicalbl1nxWhy because I speak my mind and don't fold to all the hate for the game and can make up my own mind on what I like and dont like? If all the haters can voice their opinion then I can voice mine and do be it I am in the minority.  BTW I have been in nothing but full game servers on breakthrough crossplay on. So no the game isn't dead.

@CantGetRight Your completely right, all the servers are full. Full of bots. They had to remove the AI tags because there no are no players.

So you enjoy spending money on a “multiplayer” game just to shoot bots on a selection of 4 garbage maps. Are you… financially illiterate?

@tropicalbl1nx 🤣🤣🤣 you have no idea what you are talking about. They have not removed the AI tags and I know they haven't. Try again kid!

@tropicalbl1nx I mean, the population is tiny and continues shrinking, but the conspiracy theories about "Secret bots" needs to stop. Most of it is just AFK players being AFK at spawn because this game doesn't appear to have any AFK detection/kick systems in place.

No, not really looking forward to it.

Yes, it was mentioned as a big downgrade from what we had in previous titles. A scoreboard is a standard in almost every shooter and many other online games. It should have been in the game on release because it's just a basic feature.

But there are many missing features that are way more important than the scoreboard. It's pretty ridiculous that they took it as their first priority and that it took them over 3 months...

I would have expected something like the scoreboard as a sidenote in some big (content) patch. Not as the "big" main feature of a update we waited so long for. I expected a bit more than that tbh.

But we never know. Maybe they don't like spoilers, and the upcoming patch has a lot more to offer. We will see.

I hope so, because a scoreboard won't bring back people to the game... It's way too minor.
