Re: Portal will kill the other game modes.

@TheFireOfTitanOkay, some considerations here and my thoughts for the future:

I do hope that Portal's popularity is significant and will continue to grow, but we must remember it is currently tied to life and success of Battlefield 2042. Further, Portal is a reskin of Battlefield 2042 and it's mechanics and gameplay will behave much the same, for better and for worse.

Now, as for how to move forward: I actually think what makes the most sense, but will also be the most distasteful to many, would be to monetize Portal:

1. Make the "base" Portal experience free-to-play
2. Package new maps, modes, weapons, vehicles, skins, etc. as paid DLC for Portal to add to the experience.
3. Run special events and limited-time game modes exclusive to Portal... almost like "Seasons" but not as repetitive or exhausting.

My concern with the above is letting Battlefield become too much like Fortinite and Warzone... but I also know EA DICE will want a seat at that table.

I think that is best way ahead if Portal really pans out as well as we (and EA DICE) hope...

@carsono311 I think that enabling monetization for content creators will need to be a key point. If content creators can make money off selling in-game lipstick, they will give it more exposure, draw in more who are interested or curious and add revenue. The problem there is that is not free-to-play so there is a threshold. The other is that players that have been drawn in, and seeks a competitive game, will be faced with too many choices / variations. If they seek to prove their skills to others, they need an apple-to-apple comparison, or that will not satisfy. Hazard Zone may offer that, but I think that will not be the case for Portal.
