Sniping Is Broken in Battlefield 2042

Sniping in Battlefield 2042 just feels broken. Take the SWS-10 for example — it’s chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO, the same type of round used in real-world precision rifles that can absolutely drop a target from 800–1,000 meters with a single well-placed shot. That’s almost three football fields of distance where the bullet still carries enough energy to be lethal. Yet in the game, I’ll line up a perfect shot across these massive maps, hit the enemy dead-on, and it does laughable damage. Then the guy turns around, beams me with an M4A1 — a 5.56 assault rifle that realistically loses effectiveness past 500 meters — and I’m down in two or three hits. It makes no sense that a sniper rifle built for long-range dominance gets outgunned by a standard AR at extreme range. It kills the whole point of running a sniper in the first place.

There are so many broken things on this game, hacks galore. Getting killed by phantom players that don't exist is one of them.

  • It's broken kinda, in terms that BF 6 sniping just feels and works better. But also Not really cuz sniping does work. Just need to nail a headshot for one hit kills

Also ppl can put scopes on M4 and it will tag at long range. If playing in regular MP, ppl are cracked so if one takes too long to aim, the glint and they can hit you back, esp if they use the dragunov DMR.  Also there are some instances of cheating so there's that, where ppl can tag at long range with that revolver, the prototype gun (the one done in exploiting iwo jima tunnel C1 + works across the map lol, I was flying a little bird and dodging the AAA gatling gun stations  and got sniped by a prototype from a guy sitting on lava spot that burns me when try to run across on a shortcut on an earlier rush game . . . but I guess he/she is targaryen )

some games are taking it to far... like you need to eat, you need to drink water, the weather now plays a factor.... that's a little to much for me as "realism" goes.... and enough with these 64 vs 64... give me the option to play in a 4 vs 4, 8 vs 8, etc in a mid size (not closet size) maps.

If you made the ballistics realistic the game gets VERY boring very fast as it'd basically be Hardcore rules 24/7. No room to react, no sense of fairness, no real space for fun

Look at the reception of the shotgun in 6 a TON of players were frustrated at its range and lethality, and that's with it still arguably underperforming vs real life counterparts. If it were truly realistic it'd be even more oppressive and unfun to face against.

Apply that to snipers and now you have players who don't have to account for drop as much and get to oneshot anyone from anywhere. Where is that fun or fair?
