R.I.P Battlefield.
Well, what can I say? As a long, die hard fan of battlefield over the years you, EA/Dice really have let go of the steering wheel and veered right over a sheer cliff drop. What a shame. Not o...
I haven't played in awhile. Maybe 30 minutes in the past two weeks. It is a shame because the game just isn't that good. I understand some people like it, but it is obvious now that a majority do not like the game in its current state. I'm cautiously optimistic it can be improved, but very much disappointed in the launch product, bugs aside.
I'm most disappointed with EA/Dice's tone deaf communications. I don't think fans care to see some concept art surrounding a stale and under developed world on Twitter. Especially when the core experience is missing the mark for so many.
I also would love for them to stop referring to BF players as Non-Pats or No-Pats. I'm a BF Fan. I like Battlefield games and that is why spend useless time on this forum sometimes. I'm not here because I fell in love with 2042's theme, I'm here because I fell in love with several of their awesome games. 2042 is not one of those games, currently.
Part of that is because EA/Dice went all in on developing and marketing No-Pats instead of developing and marketing a BF game. The reason why is clear to me. Specialists will provide microtransaction dollars for EA and behind every specialist is a paying customer. The dramatic drop in player numbers likely is changing their plans and is reason why they haven't said a word yet this year. They are figuring out what to do. I just hope 2042 becomes one of my favorites at some point this year. They have a mountain to climb.

@2Timothy3You will never like this game. No one wants to play old refurbished games and that’s not profitable.
Expecting to revive old BF games is not going to happen.
not entirely true... Modern Warfare Remastered was successfull to the point that this year are launching Modern Warfare 2.
Hitman franchise the same thing, The Last of Us, Ace Combat 5 for PS4, Metal Gear and a long ETC list... so, it depends on how they make the remake/reamster title.
Bad Company 2 Remastered o BF3 Remastered would be million years better than this actual game
@k1u73I never mentioned I wanted to see revived BF games from the past. I do expect the product to progressively get better by adding additional experiences and features on top of the popular, successful features from previous games. 2042 dropped core features it built over several games going back to Bad Company.
Obviously, no one wants to play a new game that is not polished and missing popular features. 2042 is missing enough that the game resembles its competitors more than its own predecessors. That isn't profitable. Even if EA's marketing lured many of us to hang $60-120 on 2042, it will lose on future content and brand goodwill.
I want a new BF experience that lives up to its roots, is content/feature rich, and is worth what I paid for. I can say that BF1942, BF Vietnam, BF2, BFBC, BFBC2, BF3, BF4, BF1, and BFV all provided something new that a majority liked while maintaining core features from each of its predecessors. BFV is a good looking game, had some really interesting features, and was a dumpster fire at launch due to poor polish and server issues. Yet, it provided a lot of content and features at the start without dumping major ones from previous games.
I can like 2042, but that isn't up to me. That is in EA/Dices hands. They can provide more content and features. They can start by reintroducing features from previous games. Small things that go a long way. They focus more on the factions instead of the specialists. The Specialists themselves are whatever. I don't care for them at all, but I know some do. It is the neglect of the factions that is hurting immersion. There isn't enough separation for the player to think they are playing for Russia or the US. Faction specific specialists could fix this. Right now it's just one incoherent mess which is why the overarching theme falls flat for many.
*Pours one out for 'ol Battlefield*

I wholeheartedly agree. Personally, I think Portal has the ability to be a brilliant concept in that respect but they will need to put much more effort into to to realize its true potential. Unfortunately, I think being tied to BF2042 isn't doing it any favors.
The idea that no one wants remastered titles is shortsighted and frankly doesn't bear out in reality. If that were true, game companies wouldn't waste their efforts. ....and do I really need to point to obvious successes like GTAV which is going on it's 3rd remaster this coming March? Last year in their investor call they made a point of noting that future plans will include more remasters of other fan favorite titles. .....RDR1 is now rumored to be one of them which I would certainly buy myself.
To your point, CoD:MW2019 was a very successful move by Infinity Ward. It actually brought me back to the franchise after many years away. Apparently, MW2 is next now that its IWs turn again at the helm.
The market for remasters is really ripe for the picking especially now that we have next-gen consoles.
I would have loved to have seen one of the BF fan favorite titles from the past with new mechanics, new weapons, old and new maps, etc. rather than this new direction they took in BF2042. In fact, the only reason I bought this game was for Portal so my friends and I could play some of these old games again in their updated form.
@2Timothy3What my experience is with any and all of these gaming company's is they are like hookers...
In that they will tell you anything you want to hear for your 100 bucks...
and no you don't get kissed either!
All of ye should have expected that and lessons learned and when I say ALL of them that's what they ALL do...
Gamer's grow and mature and the next generation moves in and their music is a whole different sound than our old music...
Remastering old game is actually very successful… there’s a lot of people who would love to see the games they played long ago with better graphics and maybe some polished updates for gameplay.
@k1u73 You know no one here is taking you serious, right? Not when you make outrageous comments like this. Not once did I disparage you. If your goal is to win the debate, then argue your point. Disparaging me or anyone in the middle of the debate is akin to raising a white flag while throwing a tantrum.
Less than 1K viewers on Twitch for BF 2042 ! Dice do something, save the GAME !!!
@2Timothy3I have my game time in and have always been active for any game I play and like in what ever medium.
I don’t do all the hacks over at reddit though.
And racking up the XP too! You would be amazed at what the amount is just from this thread 😂
